It was wonderful to see quite a few signed up, some last minute sign ups and easily persuaded GoodGymer's joining us at a brand new task in Deptfod.
We didn't really know what was in store for us but what we did find was an amazing community garden tucked away from the street. I'm not sure you'd know it was there unless you were in the know.
There was plenty of tasks for us to get stuck into and our hosts were very excited to have us there. Once we divided up tasks, we all got stuck in. There was the standard alkinet removal, digging up some plants, sweeping up leaves, clearing under some bushes and then last but not least, sitting on a yellow chair to fill the buckets with water.
That leads me to mentioning it was Mo's last group run before his move to Geneva. We celebrated with some swiss rolls! We'll miss you Mo and thank you for all your hard work. You've been a big part of the group!

Was it the potential to see trains, was it that everyone liked the sound of moving compost, was it the fact we haven't been to that task for ages? Whatever everyone's reasons, it was wonderful to have such a big group.
I left the group at Glass Mill to jump on the bus and we all reconvened at Crofton Park Railway Garden including those that were meeting us there. It was perfect timing!
We managed to fit lots of tasks for everyone to get stuck into including moving the shed which I think had been on their to do list for quite a while. Well done!
We also sorted the compost pile, swept the woodchippings back to where they belong, litter picked and watered the plants!! A lot of tasks done in 45min.
Great work team for getting stuck in and getting the tasks done.

The lovely Friends of Luxmore Gardens attempted to play down the amount of weeding needed when we got there - it looks more weedy than it actually is.
So nine of us set out to prove them right - our numbers swelled by Conall who was doing his very first GoodGym good deed. Despite a heavy downpour the weeds were moved to a large compost pile. There was even time to move a logs into a location where they can be used for sitting.
Despite the rain it was a really enjoyable task - hopefully we'll see Conall again soon.

To quote Marta "Thanks everyone! Very happy to have had 900 opportunities to spend time with amazing people like you guys!! ❤️". Well we're more than happy to share you with Greenwich and to celebrate the amazing achievement of 900 good deeds! You might have to wait another 100 good deeds for a tshirt and with your current rate of good deeds, we'll need to get planning for that one soon.
The task for the evening was to Alexander Care Home in Ladywell to continue tackling the weeds in the garden. We made a good dent in the flower beds last time and now this time we were focusing on the gaps in the pacing stones and the alkinet and brambles at the back of the garden.
The group then took a leisurely walk to keep me company on the short journey to Mamma Dough. It was good to chat about Charlotte Church, Marta staring in a gameshow, Saturday morning TV and the Pope visiting Charlton.
Thanks to Paul for getting the group to the task whilst I jumped on the bus. Next week is a double task so we need all hands on deck to tackle weeds at both Florence Green and Luxmore Garden.
