4 GoodGymers shoveled and shifted 4 tonnes of mulch to create 50 metres of pathway in the new London Fields conservation area!
laying down a whole heap of mulch was the order of the day while staying off of the conservation area which has been recently planted with a range of biodiverse flowers.
The fenced off area will be an educational space for secondary aged groups to come along and see nature in action!
Loading up the wheelbarrow and trailer with 2 large trugs in the powering 100 metres over to the garden before expertly tipping, spreading then in as small a turning circles as possible to not impact the new plants double back and reload with expert shoveling technique!
A massive step forward in the pathway in just over an hour of action creating 50 metres of protected pathway!! top work from the team!!
Hooefully the Sunday group can finish off the pathway before we return to extend the pathway all the way through very soon.

Goodgym Brent met in Willesden with a big hello and welcome to first timer Christine
After a catch up and warm up, we jogged 2 km to Clitterhouse farm . Anika greeted us on arrival and rushed to show us the tasks for the evening , as the light was slowly disappearing . We shared out the tasks between us. Christine expertly painted a small table black . Lizzie filled a wheelbarrow and buckets with woodchip. Pete and Tabitha then spread the sweet smelling wood chip on the flower beds , to cover any weeds and prevent them growing .
In no time at all the light was gone , the jobs were done , and we raced back to Willesden
Great job Team Brent !

Big numbers for a big task tonight. We welcomed lots of new faces, including Xenia and Katy. It was a lovely late summer evening, and we jogged through Gladstone park to arrive at Mora Primary School. There we waited patiently for them to notice the shouting, waving and phone calls and they UnLocked the door and welcomed us in.
Then we all got into one room and rolled the paint on
We rolled down the floor cloths, put our painting gloves on and rolled the paint smoothly down the walls, using the finer brushes to create that final polishing touch. Everyone who could see colours painted, everyone else... scraped the old paint off. sensible job allocations, team!
As the sweat dripped down our brows, down this paint crawled, down this paint crawled.
With only two rollers and some very small brushes we managed to finish one of the rooms, ready for a second coat on our return next week. We packed up, washed up , brushed the floor and jogged back to Willesden
Thank you everyone for joining! Hope to see you again soon

On a sunny Bank holiday evening Goodgym Brent met in Willesden Green. We welcomed back Catherine for her second Goodgym session, and a big welcome to Brian, who joined for the first time! Brian has been lurking in the Brent Whatsapp group for 2+ years, and has finally made it to his first run, hopefully of many!
We warmed up and introduced ourselves and jogged 2.2km to Clitterhouse farm. Anika and Rob met us on arrival and were pleased to see such a big group of us. Our task for the day was clearing out a HUGE pile of garden waste, and a compost heap to make way for a wildflower garden and a pond.
We worked well as a team, filling wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow with sticks and compost. Josh was able to lift kilos at a time, Lizzy and Catherine found their new calling as power tool masters, removing the screws from the compost bin so we could access and remove the compost very easily.Brian was a wheelbarrow pro. Tabitha took the lovely pics in the report.
In no time at all, the pile had been removed, it was very rewarding to see the changes a big group can make in a small space of time, Rob and Anika were very grateful for the help. We packed up, stopped for a team photo, waved goodbye and jogged back to Willesden for a warm down and a cool drink.
Thanks everyone!!

A handful of intrepid Good Gymmers – Tabitha, Pete, Lizzie, Lee and Josh (aka the Famous Five) – met at GG Willesden’s spiritual home of Beer + Burger for a catch-up, a warm-up, and a run up to the Kingsgate Estate to help Ajay clear the Kilburn Grange Park “Community Triangle” area of its weeds and thistles. We weeded, thistled, raked, hoed, pulled and dug, removing FIVE WHOLE TONNES (well... five tonne-bags full anyway) of hefty overgrowth. Special mention to Pete befriending the interested local passers-by and Lizzie's virtuoso performance with the giant leaf grabber tongs!
As we finished and posed for the "we've done it!" pic, Ajay explained how the newly-cleared area would be replanted in order to encourage local residents to grow their own veg at home - a perfectly cromulent and inspiring community initiative indeed. We'll be helping out with his other local projects very soon.
Our task complete, we "ran" back to B+B for Tabitha's warm-down and some well-earned pints, chips and chat - Josh's Hoegaarden-esque wheat beer rounded off an excellent Monday night.
Cheers!
