GG Woking got Creative
To make things a bit more interesting GG Members were set the challenge of finding their name out in nature and their surroundings.
With Anne heading to Great Windsor Park and
Jameseven using animals to make up his name.!
It was nice to use this challenge to look around more and to see things you may have not spotted before. It made my dog walk a little more interesting. A great effort by all and well done!!

Woking Report written by James McCloud
Last night 6 GoodGym members went to the Food Bank in Woking to prepare food packages for the Salvation Army to distribute.
We welcomed Susan as a new GoodGym member and we are very happy to know her.
Anne, Katie and Adam braved the cold weather to run the 5k from Woking town centre to the location near Knaphill, while James, Lou and Susan sensibly drove!
We all enjoy helping the foodbank and they do such great work for our community so we are very happy to get involved.
Once there we received our usual warm welcome and got stuck right in to preparing 60 bags of shopping for families and 40 bags of shopping for single people. We worked hard to give each beneficiary a nice selection of foods and treats and were finished in around 90 mins which was a great achievement.
Once finished, and a quick tidy up, we posed for a few photos and left, with Adam, Anne and Katie once again braving the cold to run the 5k home.
Next session will be back to do further work at the allotment on Saturday 19th and we hope to see as many people as possible for some digging!

Weight lifting at the food bank
Who needs to go the gym when you can help out at the food bank?!
Last night GG Woking members headed to the food bank. During lock down they moved locations to a storage unit to help with the packing of food over lock down. They are now ready to move again to a better location with easier access and a warmer environment in Knaphill. Our task last night was to help prepare for more to move by unstacking all of the shelfing racks and moving them closer to the lifts ready to be taken to the new location. This was some heavy lifting as all the crates had to be taken off the shelves and then the metal racks then had to carried over to the other side of the building. With some good team work we soon had the job completed.
It's great to hear how well the food bank has been doing over lockdown, with everyone being so generous with donations. The food bank has been doing an amazing job and now due to lockdown 2.0 they are back to delivering food parcels to those in need.
A big thank you to everyone who came to help out last night. It's great to help out a great cause and its so nice to see friendly faces in person again and not via a screen!

Louise Sutherland earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Louise completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Louise was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Woking Report written by Louise Sutherland
Mara (my rescue dog) and I visited an elderly lady with Alzheimers so she could cuddle and spend some time with Mara. This lady is a massive dog lover, had dogs all her life but can no longer have one herself. Her daughter felt that it would be comforting to have some time with a dog and she may try to recall memories of her dogs. The look on her face throughout was magical. Anyway, Mara behaved herself, the lady loved the visit really engaged with Mara and the experience was good for her short term memory loss. We are now returning for weekly visits!
