Today's mission was a welcomed return to London Grown to continue turning the ground and preparing the patching for planting. We were joined by SIX GG newbies! Give them all a cheer: Camille, Eleanor, Holly, Michelle, Sophie and Catherine.
As always, Patrick provided the tunes.
The weather was much nicer this time round. No frozen mud of fingers today! Continuing on from our last visit, the team quickly turned the soil and pulled all the brambles – dispite much resistance. After an hour of hard slog we had a short burpee and biscuit break before getting back to work. I'm on a mission to convince everybody they actually love burpees.
We then split up to cover more ground. Some folks were de-taping and de-stapling cardboard, others were transporting cardboard, others were laying cardboard and others were shovelling and moving compost. London Grown has quite the compost pile donated from the council, thanks to everyone filling their green bins. So anyone doing their own gardening at home should always remember to pop the green rubbish in the green bin.
In the end we managed to turn the whole patch and lay cardboard over half, covering it in compost. As the clock struck 12 the team was gathered back at the front cleaning off their tools and saying their goodbyes.
This week's (travelling) Barnet Biscuit was the trusty chocolate bourbon. Biscuits are quite the tradition in Barnet.
Thanks for all your hard work team. You smashed it! And well done to those of you who remembered your docs for DBS checks. Remember you can always bring those along to any group runs for checking.
See you soon! Pennie

On Saturday 80 people assembled at London Grown and worked for an hour and a half helping to help create London's biggest community growing space.
GoodGym veterans and first timers alike braved the cold on a beautifully clear, crisp Saturday morning to help The London Grown Workers' Co-operative work on 7 acres of derelict land with the hope of transforming the area into London's largest community growing space. Once ready the site will be used to grow organic vegetables and fruit for the local people to buy at affordable prices and to show people how to grow local affordable food - if you're interested, they will be teaching every Monday from March 2017.
A half way fitness session and a delicious refuel from Moju Drinks and we were ready to get back to work to complete the task. We even did a bit of lung capacity training by singing happy birthday to Phil - hope you had a great day Phil.
The London Grown Workers' Co-operative were really pleased with the turnout and work accomplished in the time we were there.
Big thanks to Team London and Haringey Council for supporting GoodGym and making events like these possible.
