Nottingham Report written by Peter Edwards
You can tell that the clocks have changed when the head torches stay in the bag and six Goodgymers from Nottingham can venture outside without hats, coats and gloves!
Rachel, Peter, Tom, Leah, Nigel and Hannah made the trip to St Stephen's churchyard to help with a spring clean and "log" another good deed!
Winter had taken its toll and our job was to gather up the fallen branches and pile them up in one corner so Johannes, the caretaker, could have a clear run with the mower.
In true Goodgym style we got stuck in and carried, dragged and cut down to size a great number of branches and left behind a very happy caretaker. A "treemendous" effort indeed!

Summer felt like it had arrived as Leah, Rob and Rachel headed to the Arkwright Meadows Community Garden (accompanied by a couple of mini GoodGymers once again). This was our first visit to this community green space, hidden away in the Meadows area of Nottingham, and we were absolutely amazed to see everything that was going on in the garden.
We met some of the regular volunteers and trustees on arrival, and were given a tour of the vast site. We then gathered some tools and set to work on our task - clearing an area of brambles near the family play section so that the space can be used by the children without fear of getting spiked! We needed to dig up the brambles from the root which, whilst very satisfying, proved a rather hot and sweaty task in the sun. We worked for around 90-minutes and managed to make a pretty good dent in the overgrowth.
Hopefully we may be able to return in the near future to finish the job and/or help with some of the other projects going on within the AMC garden.

Tonight was our final evening task before the clocks change and the headtorches reverse-hibernate in Leah's car boot. As you can see from the pics, it was actually still light when we started!
The same team as last week were at it again, swapping litter pickers for letterboxes to spread the word about Base51 – a local charity that supports young people aged 11-24 by offering counselling, youth club sessions, LGBTQIA support and more.
We made short work of our 250 leaflets, and as far as I heard no-one met any snakes this time. I don't think we even saw many (if any) cats!
