Tonight was a special run for us as it was GoodGym Bexley's 3rd Birthday
We met at Crook Log, thankful that it wasn't raining and no storms were going on outside! We heading out for our warm up before making our way to Welling Library.
As usual, we had a walking group and a running group.
We made our way straight down Welling High Street as we were meeting Patrick, who was giving us seeds to plant as part of the Bee Street Project.
On arrival, Patrick was already there and had started planting some small shrubs which were going to be acting as an edging/barrier to hopefully stop people walking over the garden area.
We were working on 2 areas tonight...
The Welling Cannon
and
Welling Library.
First we had to weed and tidy the garden areas, rake the soil and the spread the seeds.
There was actually a lot more garden area than we thought.
After not very long we were done. All the seeds had been sprinkled over the area, so we swept and tidying away before heading to the pub for our birthday celebrations!
Well done guys!
Until next time...
Happy running!

Tonight we met at Crook Log as usual. The storm seemed to have disappeared as we made our way outside for our warmup. However, it was still windy enough to keep blowing our cones over for our game. We decided to alter the game a little and had a relay race to see which team could collect all their coloured cones first. After a bit of confusion and an almost fatal collision, we settled at a draw.
It was time to split into out 2 teams.
Runners
&
Walkers
We headed straight for the care home as we wasn't sure what task we would be doing. We made it there in not time at all. Great running from the team and the walking group arrived not too far after the runners.
Upon arrival, we were given some paint brushes and a large pot of paint. Our task was to touch up parts of the coving. We nominated some painters, who picked up a brush and got to work while the rest supervised, making sure that they were safe and holding the tools.
The coving looked better already!!
We tidied up, washed brushes and made sure that there were no drips of paint anywhere... We were all good!
It was time to head back to Crook Log. We had a short jog back before cooling down.
Great work tonight.
See you next time!

- We have a chance for a double good deed coming up on the 15th February.
- Join us at Bexley parkrun for some volunteering
- After, we are heading to The Old English Gardens for the first time this year
Tonight, 10 of us met at Crook Log ready for the task.
We had a quick warm up playing 'musical cones' minus the music.
We had a short run to the walk centre, while I led the walking group on a shorted loop to arrive at the same time.
Upon arrival we were met by Joy, who quickly found us something to do.
The task was to clear and tidy the skate park area. There wasn't an awful lot to do as we wernt there that long ago. We pulled up some weeds and cut back some grass as well as tidy some litter. In between, we tried to keep warm by jogging some laps around the skate park and do some star jumps.
After a little while, there wasnt much left to do. Joy asked if we could do a quick litter pick around the car park area.
This didn't take long as there wasnt alot of litter. Great for the environment but not great for us looking for litter!
We emptied the bins and tidied up before heading back to Crook Log.
Great work tonight.
Until next time...
Happy Running...

Bexley News
Another cold night this evening as we met at Crook Log. We welcomed our new member, Sally and headed outside for a warm up. we had a quick jog and stretch before playing a-sort-of-a-version of musical cones, but without any music. we started off with a cone each and round after round one cone was taken away. The game soon descended into chaos as all rules were thrown out of the window. In the end it was Sean who won...or was it Lee?!?! Anyway, after everyone had warmed up and we had had a laugh we split into our walking and running groups. The runners took the back way round, which is slightly longer and has the added bonus of the railway bridge, and the walkers took the direct riute down the highstreet.
As we arrived at Welling Library, our first task was to unlock the door to the storeroom. This was a challenge in itself and could have been listed as its own good deed. It took 4 people and multiple attempts while pushing the door to get the final key to turn.
And we were in!
We chose our weapons, handed out gloves and got to work.
We had done such a good job the last time we were there that not much needed doing.
We focused our attention to the back fence which was overgrown with ivy and shrubs as well as the front beds which were covered in weeds and litter.
It was not long before we could see a difference and had 5 bin bags full of cuttings and rubbish.
We then had the short jog back to the leisure centre before saying our goodbyes.
Until next time...
Happy running!
