12 Great GoodGymers ran 4.5k to St Andrews Youth Club to clear stuff, clean stuff and play some games!
Great to have a super crew to nip through London Town with tonight, managing to negotiate a few hundred thousand Christmas shoppers while gazing at some of the most magical Christmas Lights you could see.
Running South we made our way through the enchanting St James’s park and along the 2 and bit kilometre route to St Andrew’s youth club at 151 years young it is very much still going strong.
Always puts a smile on my face to walk into the club and feel the energy of Westminsters youth being directed into such positive pursuits!
With a big truck coming along tomorrow we first cleared the last of the heavy stuff that will be making space for more activities in 2018. With the garage full to the brim with stuff to go some of it from so many years ago that the dust was piling way up high.
With the garage filled half the group. Made their way up to the boxing store to lift, shift and tidy the boxing store cupboard. Making it so much easier for the boxing groups to access and use the kit on their next session.
The rest of the group made there way down to the gym and amazing to see it looking so good!! A mini makeover has taken place with the January fitness drive the target to try and raise some vital funding to keep St Andrew’s thriving. A deep clean on mass got the gym that extra sparkle and we even got to hear from ** Tom and Adrian** about the amazing work that the youth club does, the history of the club and two amazing and uplifting accounts of how the Youth Club has helped them both from young children to grown adults. Awesome to feel the passion and love that they both spoke with about the Club.
With a few minutes left we took the chance to play some games with some of the youth club members. Great to be able to have fun playing table football, Table Tennis and pool having fun and building great community relationships. Alex even capped off a stunning performance to hold his nerve in a titanic pool battle that will live long in St Andrew’s folklore!!
Saying our Christmas goodbyes and look forward to many more great projects in 2018 not to mention the Epic Kinball Summer showdown!!
A swift run back up to Oxford Street with some more Christmas light action on Old Bond Street rounded off an uplifting evening!!
Thanks for coming along and hope to see you all next week!

11 determined GoodGymers ran 7.5k to deliver 400 leaflets for Open Age charity Pop up Cafe!!
Meeting at the New Balance store ready to roll this week were 11 all action GoodGymers! Welcoming Al on his first GG run we got going on our 90 minuets of continuous movement.
Heading to the North West of the Borough we made good time as we powered through the nearly 4k run swiftly.
Splitting up into 2 units we headed west along what some would say is a straight road! Leapfrogging each other to create a speedy delivering strategy. Once we got into our stride there was no stopping us even if we didn’t all always know where we were going. 35 minutes in and all the leaflets at been posted so a very Pop up Cafe event is almost certainly secured for Open Age!!
Picking up the pace on the way back we stormed back to back in record time where we stretched out made our way home with a serious increase in our fitness when doing good for a fantastic local charity!
Next week we are off to One Big Family homeless charity to make some food for Westminsters homeless community, would love to have you along!
Have a great week

Last night we turned one year old! A huge thanks to all that have been involved with @GGSheff to make it what it is today a really great bunch of people from all sorts of backgrounds and running abilities that have come together to do good in their community and to get fitter. You are all truely a fantastic bunch!
Following a brief inside photo now the clocks have changed we set off to a brand new task in Kelham Island with In2Change a fantastic organisation that work with young offenders to avoid repeat offending and provide users with skills and education at the centre.
On arriving at In2Change we were greeted by MAGIC MARC & BRILLIANT BRIAN who gave us a tour of the building and the project and got us tooled up for the nights task.
As the planned paint job had already taken place we went for plan B which involved some painting of doors and some cleaning of the gym which needed some love to bring it back to sparkling splendor.
Both Brian and Marc were very happy with the efforts of the group and thanked all before we headed off to Craft & Dough for our anniversary celebrations where we were surprised with some generous Prosecco from 'THE KING' Steph Gilmer in his abscence and some fantastic GG cupcakes from chief organiser of the meal Kim Longbon. Thanks to both for your extra efforts and to all that attended for coming together to celebrate @GGSheff becoming one!
Here's to another fantastic year!
