This week the group gathered to let High Town residents know about the Luton Literature Book Festival.
Joined by first timer Justin we did our intros and warm up and then headed up to High Town, collected the leaflets and hit the streets.
Going door-to-door in a leapfrog style we delivered hundreds of leaflets, at least 600, in super quick time and made it to the pub before the rain got too bad, to receive our reward, a free round of drinks, a thank you from task owner Maz.
Wednesday 2nd October
Soheil Nekooamal Kermani led a GoodGym walking session, leading others to the task to get more good done
Soheil became a walk leader. Soheil led the way for others to get fit by doing good.

The Luton Run Fest is coming up soon so it's time to let all the residents know about the road closures for this massive running event.
We'll be back on these roads at full speed in a couple of weekends but tonight it was a steady pace as we went door-to-door delivering letters with all the details for the residents.
Teamwork made the dream work as we sped along the road and delivered hundreds of letters in super quick time!

This week for our group run we ran up the hill through High Town to our task on Hitchin road where community clean-up coordinator Kevin from ABCD Luton and some local residents had already got started.
A couple of road-side areas were overgrown with shrubs and weeds and needed cutting back and tidying up. On arrival our team were tooled up with shears, saws, loppers and brushes and set to cutting back and clearing up.
With our large team we managed to clean up a huge stretch of road and filled an amazing five big bags of cuttings which needed dragging up the hill to the point that the council was booked to collect from.
Before retreating back down the hill we took a few minutes to do a few rounds of walking lunges, crunches and squats in the park to round off an energetic evening.

Luton Report written by Gill (She/her)
The people at FoodCycle are beginning to wonder how they would ever cope if it wasn't for the amazing contribution of GoodGym to their volunteering team. This afternoon and evening was no exception.
Gill did a double wammy as she started the afternoon at 2pm with a trip to Sainsbury's to collect some of the food surplus which we would be using to turn onto a healthy meal for the guests. After unloading the mountain of food with Jordi one of the FoodCycle Team she was soon joined by other FoodCyclers, including Pam and we were soon deciding on a menu for the evening. Pam took charge of the starter and came up with a delicious egg salad topped by a couple of boiled eggs and her very own home made mayonnaise!!!
Gill was busy putting together an apricot pudding with apricot and strawberry sauce. While they were flat out in the kitchen, it was time for Soheil and Ali to make their FoodCycle debut. They were joined by Yazed and all three did an amazing job of setting up the hall ready for the meal. And what a lovely team to greet the guests, as they were smiling throughout service and while washing up and tidying up afterwards.
Well done GoodGym team - another fabulous meal served to over 50 appreciative guests.
