We were joined this week by Ibrahim for his first taste of a group run after doing a few community missions. Martin took the lead to complete his Fitness Leader training and we headed off on a 4km journey to All Saint's Church, where Fr David and his team of garden helpers awaited the arrival of Goodgym help.
The Church's allotment area needed tidying up and readying for some fresh planting, now the warmer weather has finally arrived! We dug out the weeds, cut down overgrown shrubs and dismantled knackered old trellises, leaving the whole garden much tidier and two beds of soft black earth ready for planting.
Before we left Martin led us on a quick fitness blast of squats, planks and walking lunges, a good warm up for the return journey back into town.

This week we had a split team of walkers and runners heading out to Bury Park where we reunited at All Saint's Church.
The church is celebrating its Centenary this month and our task was to leaflet the local streets to invite residents to the celebrations.
400 leaflets were posted in quick time before the walkers headed off to return to base and the runners stayed back at the park to do a resistance band core workout. Weak oblique abs were identified in the team so we'll be working on those in future weeks!
The runners then played catch-up, reuniting with the walkers at the university with perfect timing for everyone to enjoy a cool down stretch and a box of doughnuts from Duncan who was celebrating his GoodGym anniversary!

This week a new GGLuton relationship was kicked off with our first visit to All Saint's Church and it's many garden areas. The vegetable plots needed a bit of tidying up to remove old canes, rotten old apples raked up, many bags of leaves carried down to the bin, plus a spot of street sweeping of more leaves and tackling some rogue holly shoots too.
It's hard to tell in the dark but it definitely seemed tidier and more organised on the way out. I think we'll be back here soon, theres plenty to be done!
