Simon joined the volunteer team at Caledonian Park junior parkrun. A wonderful way to start a Sunday morning, helping as a course marshal at this free weekly 2km run for 4-14 year old youngsters and local families.

Caledonian Park junior parkrun is always a wonderful way to start a Sunday morning.
Simon, John, Madhan and Emily (congratulations on the new flat!) met up at the baseball courts off Market Road to catch up with Jon and the parkrun regulars to help with hosting this awesome free weekly timed 2km run for those aged 4 - 14 years old independently. 2 and a half laps of this beautiful park, finishing at the iconic clock tower.
Thanks guys. Have a great day!

Volunteers are vital for Junior ParkRuns to go ahead.
But sometimes GoodGymers have an extra little task to perform - turning the "Start" sign to the arrow on the other side. That's not easy to forget.
Equally easy to remember, is to count the number of times the kids go round. Third time round, pick up the cones and arrows and take them back to end of the race. Otherwise you could be waiting all day.
But GoodGymers are very diligent. Thanks in part to our marshalls, the run went well; come along next Sunday and help out!

It was a wet morning in Islington, but this didn't dull the enthusiasm of the Caledonian Junior Park Runners. Alison and John were on hand to marshall at Points 1 and 2, to ensure everything went all right.

After a short run across town, Area Activator Simon was joined by John, Alison, Louise and Emily just before the start of Caledonian Park junior parkrun, a lovely free weekly timed 2km run set up by local volunteers for youngsters to run independently. Two big laps of this lovely green park, with a additional extension to allow our runners to finish underneath the famous Caledonian Market Clock Tower (Goodgym Islington were present for the demo run many years ago!).
Between our team of course marshals, timekeepers, funnel managers and warm-up leaders, we allowed 21 children from ages 4-14 years old to run around the park safely!
Following our clear up and close down, we enjoyed some warm refreshments at Koyo coffee house near Shearing Way, before Simon, Alison and Louise ran 2 miles together to Elthorne Park near Archway for a session of Christmas Tree Pick-ups!
