Cool Runnings!

Sunday 9th July 2023

The sweltering heat eased off for a cool 5km run or walk around Castle Park. Hundreds gathered for Cancer Research UK's fundraiser with the Busketeers on the bandstand and Rock Choir on top of the hill at Hollytrees Museum provided some choral encouragement.

I hope the pink posse powered their way perfectly past the finish line and raised lots of funds.

Bethan and Axelle helped with the clear up post-Race (for Life) by walking round at the back with the tailwalker collecting the signage. Meanwhile, Anwen and Zoe prepped the signage for next week's Leicester Race for Life.

Tail Walking Race for Life

Sunday 21st May 2023

Written by Birmingham runner

This morning, 3 GoodGymer's (Amy Liam and Ben) volunteered at Cancer Research's Race for Life event at Cannon Hill Park.

We were all assigned the role of tail walkers/back marshalls which was great and meant we could stay together whilst we walked round at the back of the participants and whilst also clapping and cheering participants as they went past us for their second laps. Liam also did a great job taking control of the radio and communicating updates etc with the race control team.

It was lovely weather for it, we had a great time and it was inspiring to see everyone take part and complete the race whilst raising vital funds for cancer research.

Roger that. Over.

4 Luton Goodgymers supported Race for Life Luton, cheering and encouraging runners as part of our marshalling duties and helping to pack away the race equipment. All rather excited that we were given walkie talkies. Awesome that we also got to cheer on 2 of our own who both completed the 10k race. The event raised £40000 for cancer research uk and a good time was had by all. Over and out.
