Without the help of Michael, Fiona and Flo, Cardiff junior parkrun would have been in dire straits on Sunday.
It was all thanks to the wonderful volunteers who came forward to help out at Cardiff junior parkrun event # 462 on Sunday. ❤️🦺🦸♂️🦸♀️🦺❤️
There was one junior earning their Ultra/50 wristband, and two juniors earning their half marathon wristbands. Well done all! 👏🏼💪🏻👏🏼💪🏻👏🏼💪🏻
Here are some more numbers from the day. Two of the run directors got some pretty impressive volunteer stats, 250 volunteer credit and 200 volunteer credits. Finally, one of the regular volunteers achieved her 150th volunteer credit. 😮🏅😮🏆😮🏅😮
There were 138 juniors taking part, 26 of those were first timers, and 32 achieved a new PB time. Awesome! ⏱️🆕️⏱️🆕️⏱️

Marshalling a very wet junior park run

Nic, Michael, Martin and Flo all were down at Cardiff junior parkrun to volunteer. Cardiff junior parkrun was hosting a lot of extra new special guests. These were runners who had been expecting to do the Family Run the day before the Cardiff Half Marathon as part of the running weekend, but were left disappointed when it was cancelled due to the Storm Amy weather warnings.
These runners were able to take part at Cardiff junior parkrun instead, and experience the feeling of crossing a finish line to a cheering crowd.

There was a strong contingency of GoodGym-ers ensuring the success of Cardiff junior parkrun today. Flo of GoodGym was the run director for this week's parkrun, and it was made all the easier by Michael barcode scanning, and Emma and Lucy leading the runners and the cheering at the coveted cowbell spot. Some coffees were definitely earned afterwards.

Today down at Llandaff Fields, Nic, Michael and Flo from GoodGym were helping out at Cardiff junior parkrun.
We were all in a similar part of the course. Nic was marshalling about 100 metres from the start and finish area. Michael was marshalling at 'run in' (the main duty being to direct the runners into the finish area). And I (Flo) was marshalling 'start/finish'. Somehow despite my previous practise as a human cone, a lot of juniors did not realise they had to go round me and follow the actual cones to the finish funnel area. There were definitely some cut corners, but I suppose I should be blamed as the marshal for providing inadequate instructions. To redeem me, I did an excellent job of putting the 'Caution Runners' sign on the gate leading to the park. Nic did not have any issues with marshalling, and was able to provide great support and advice to the runners.
Michael was also given the honour of performing the 'first timers welcome' briefing. Cardiff junior parkrun has had some trouble recently with 'briefing duckers'. A briefing ducker is someone who is new to Cardiff junior parkrun or parkrun in general, but does not attend the first timers welcome. These aren't put on just to give Michael something extra to do. They are important to explain the course, the health and safety instructions, the rules, and how the barcode scanning and finish funnel tokens work. I didn't hear of any problems at the end though, so Michael clearly did a perfect job.

Three GoodGymers headed down to their familiar friend Cardiff junior parkrun on a sunny Sunday morning to help out.
Michael was barcode scanning, Fiona was marshalling at playground, and Flo was run director.
Well done to the 179 finishers who took part in parkrun!
Here are some fun numbers for you.
Yesterday was Cardiff junior parkrun's 444th event.
Out of those 179 parkrunners, 31 had visited for the first time, and 46 parkrunners got a new personal best time.
Cardiff junior parkrun also gave out 5 milestone wristbands:
1 x Half Marathon Wristband - 11 junior parkruns, 3 x Marathon Wristbands - 21 junior parkruns, and 1 x 100 wristband for the same amount of parkruns.
All of this was made possible by the 31 volunteers. Nearly 10% of that was just GoodGym members. 👏👏👏
