How cold is it outside today! We were very grateful for an indoor task tonight and even more grateful when Pam and Jen both wanted to walk to the task instead of running.
No sitting on the job
The task tonight was at St John's Church on Stoke Poges Lane, helping Mark who is leading the new Slough Community Support Cafe initiative which is running out of this Church.
Mark asked if we could move all the chairs, vacuum the floor and give the chairs a clean.
And that's exactly what we did!
Three chairs for us
We got the task completed in ample time!
We look forward to working with Mark and the team on this great community project as it continues to grow.

This evening we were back with St John the Baptist church. This time round though we were to clean the inside of the church and kitchen area rather than be outside. The night's are drawing in quickly now so it was great to have the task inside instead.
Mark, our task owner is actually running a community cafe in the church which will be open to all local residents as a place of comfort, company and a cuppa chai so it felt good to be able to help Mark and the team get the inside space spruced up.
Another one fights the dust
Our meet up point tonight was at The Activity centre and our distance was just shy of a mile each way. With plenty to chat about we got the warm up done and dusted and made our way.
On arrival, Mark was on hand to give us Henry, the Hoover and Jay, the cloth.
Whilst Jean and Sandy cracked on with moving crockery in and out of cupboards, Jen and Lauren picked up the Hoovers and got ready to bust the dust.
The church area was actually pretty tidy so we didn’t need to alter much. Jen, being our font of all knowledge managed to get half the area done in around 15 minutes. I helped do the other half so on no time it was done… pew for that!
Lauren did the breakout area which didn’t need much scrubbing and as we already had too many cooks in the kitchen, she came to help us finish off the main church.
Within 40 minutes we had both the kitchen and hoovering done. Love it when a task comes together!
Next week we are at the allotments. Please bring your body lights or a torch.

We couldn’t herb our enthusiasm on our new task this evening.
We were helping Mark who is leading the Support Cafe from St John the Baptist Cand St Michael Manor Park Church on Stoke Poges Lane.
The cafe will be a hub for local families and residents to come and have a hot meal, read a paper, get some advise or just somewhere to be.
Our task was to help cut back the vegetation in the outside grounds.
We started our evening at Salt Hill Park where we went through the task brief and had a brief warm up. Then the walkers went out walking whilst the runners did what runners do… a lot of faffing, until we were ready to leave.
On arrival we were met by Mark from the Support Community Cafe and the Reverend Suzanne who gave us the task lowdown.
Hoe Hoe Hoe… it’s off to Church we go
With plenty of weeding needed we grabbed a tool each and got to work.
Sara and Pam took the section nearest the Church as they wanted to discuss a day in the leaf with the best tool for the job! The hoe!
Jean and Abdulaziz took the side elevation and got a twiggle on to finish that.
Sandy and Gauri took the front left section as they caught up with each other - think they wanted some peas and quiet from the rest of us.
Whilst Agnija and I had just the thicket with our tools.
No need to cut it vine tonight! Within just 35 minutes we had cleared all the weeds and swept them all up!
Our good weed for the day was done!
Next week we will be back at this task but on Tuesday as Monday is now a bank holiday.
