Balal and Tousif took part in a community mission - with a difference! Balal attended the Co-operation Birmingham solidarity kitchen to help prepare meals for half term. Alongside three other volunteers and a head chef, we got cracking on chopping a large amount of veg for a vegan pasta sauce, and then onto slicing bread for garlic bread. The food was all prepared and ready to be delivered - which is where Tousif comes in!
As you will see from the pictures there was a large amount of meals which had been prepared, and Tousif kindly delivered it to the church ready to be distributed.

Solidarity kitchen reached out to me mid week as they were short on drivers for Saturday, so here I am writing the run report for my second community mission with them.
I arrived at the cafe for 3pm and my parcels had already been prepared, packed and counted so I was in and out within a minute. Which is lucky as the traffic warden was heading in my direction as I got back to my car. So I had to move quickly.. (1st move reference)
My second drop was to a lovely gentleman called John who was due to move to his new address this weekend, so I was asked by the backroom staff to get some more information about his move to ensure he continues to get the meals he needs.. (2nd move reference)
My last drop was to a house on a road I'm extremely familiar with as I liked there for over 20 years and only MOVED from there to my current house 18months ago.. (3 out of 3!!)
In total I delivered 20 hot meals to 8 addresses across 4 different post codes.

Today was the first time I volunteered for Cooperation Birmingham's Solidarity Kitchen, delivering hot meals in and around Birmingham.
The route and all operating procedures were shared with me earlier in the day so I knew exactly what to expect.
I had 26 meals to deliver to 7 addresses across Birmingham ranging from Selly Oak to Handsworth.
