Tonight five runners ran 2km to help the Winter Night Shelter sort through their donations and supplies.
It was touch and go as to whether we could get into the building as the key had been left in the lock on the inside, but after a quick call to the minister,Bernardo had managed to open up and let us in. Phew!
Under Bernardo's instruction we sifted through boxes of toiletries donated by local businesses, separating them into male/female categories. Night shelter guests will be treated to lots of lovely shower gels, deodorants and hair products when they arrive for the night!
Brogan and Muntasir re-organised all the pillows and sleeping bags, and all boxes were labelled to make it easy for the night shelter staff to see where all the essential stock is.
Finally, all the food items were taken off the shelves so that Bernardo could secure the units to the wall at a later date. We eyed up lots more items which need sorting- plenty for another mission! Before we knew it, it was time to go and meet the rest of the team who had been completing a task nearby, and sadly (!) we missed out on Liz's lovely hill reps. Never mind, next time!
