Gwyn and Tracey travelled in silence this week, as someone had put the sat-nav in a "safe place" whilst the car was being repaired from the last outing. Just as well we've become accustomed to the route round our regular group of friends who receive lovely meals courtesy of the Derby West Indian Community Association.
Sadly for us, this will be the last time we will make this particular journey, as the Covid Kitchen Project ends on Saturday. However, we recognise that such a lot of hard work has gone into this, and the cooks and organisers deserve a rest - they have been providing meals twice a week, every week, since April 2020.
This has been an amazing project, bringing so many different people together, and we have loved being part of it.

It's Wednesday again, and time for our favourite community mission; delivering hot meals to the community on behalf of DWICA. However, this time, things weren't quite the same as usual...
On the way to the community centre, Tracey's car began making a strange noise. When we arrived and had a closer look, the exhaust was hanging off!
This didn't stop us carrying out our good deed, but we proceeded at a snail-like pace, delivering the meals to homes located between the centre and Tracey's house. There, we moved the remaining meals to Gwyn's much healthier car, and completed the community mission at a more normal speed, and considerably more quietly.
Everyone was very pleased to see us, and I hope they enjoyed their food, as it certainly smelled delicious.

Another thoroughly enjoyable community mission for Gwyn and Tracey, delivering meals to the West Indian community in Derby.
The food was lovingly prepared by a team at the Derby West Indian Community Association, and we get so much pleasure from the smiles and gratitude of the recipients.

Although it started and ended as a beautifully sunny afternoon, we had a surprise hailstorm partway through this good deed; delivering delicious meals to the community on behalf of the Derby West Indian Community Association.
Gwyn faced the storm, and Tracey chauffered him to various homes located in the southern side of Derby. The volunteer coordinators at the centre are really friendly, enthusiastic and so appreciative of our help, and the beaming smiles from the recipients of the meals is an absolute delight to see - even brighter than the sunshine that (eventually) reappeared.
