What a way to start 2025! 323 parkrunners and 30 volunteers - including 7 GoodGymmers - all leapt out of bed to join this special parkrun. This week the 7 Goodgymmers carried out the following roles: event set up, volunteer coordinator, first timers welcome, timekeeper, barcode scanner, number checker, course close down, token sorting, and the all important roles - participants! Why else are we all here?! Another lovely morning with lovely people, well done everyone.

Six GoodGymmers brought the sparkle to Crewe parkrun on a dreary damp Saturday between Christmas and New Year. Karen, Nicola, Maurice, Mark, Marjo and Nigel all volunteered, covering numerous roles: volunteer coordinator, returning rescued signs from the last parkrun (thank you Maurice!) , course set-up, barcode scanning, timekeeping, tidying away the kit ready for next week, helping an injured runner, sorting the tokens, and social media. Every part was greatly appreciated by the 325 participants.

Its the most wonderful time of the year! It seems everyone came out for parkrun on Christmas Day in Crewe this year, with 525 festive runners, walkers, Santas, elves, a penguin and a dinosaur!
GoodGym played some very important roles in making this wonderful event happen - Karen as Run Director with the safety brief, Nigel on set-up, Mark (dressed as a penguin, of course) and Marjo welcoming people to Crewe for the first time with the all-important welcome briefing, Nigel timekeeping (and that was a BUSY job!), Nigel, Karen and Maurice on course close-down, and at the end Maurice, Emily, Nigel and Karen all part of the token-sorting team. Karen's volunteering extended into the afternoon with results processing and updating social media.
Merry Christmas everyone!

4 GoodGymmers helped to make Crewe parkrun happen this week! Nicola played the biggest contribution as Run Director - making sure everything ran smoothly for the 262 participants, and the team of volunteers. Karen, Maurice and Nigel made an important albeit smaller contribution - sorting the tokens over a coffee and lots of chatting, ready for next week's parkrun when GoodGym will be back on duty.

Another busy morning at Crewe parkrun, with 6 GoodGymmers being part of the amazing team that made it happen!
It was a special day today as one of our GoodGym stalwarts was celebrating his 250th parkrun - simply amazing Maurice! Of course we had to celebrate with cake - and very yummy cake it was. We also had a volunteer takeover by Nantwich Running Club - a huge thank you to Mark for all the work that went into organising this over the last few weeks.
So what did GoodGym do today? Well lots actually! Between Karen, Emily, Kat, Mark, Nigel and Maurice, we carried out the following tasks: Run Director, pre-event set up, volunteer coordinator, first timers welcome, tailwalker, results processor, photographer, course close down and token sorting!
Well done and thank you everyone!

5 GoodGymmers made their way through the low-lying mist to volunteer at Crewe parkrun this morning. And what a busy morning it was! Karen and Nigel did the course check and swept a huge amount of leaves and pine needles off the course; Nicola welcomed all the volunteers and made sure they understood their roles, followed by welcoming all the first time parkrunners and explaining the course; Karen was Run Director today so gave the welcome and safety briefing before starting the parkrun; Nigel was one of the timekeepers; and at the end Maurice and Emily sorted the 393 tokens, Karen processed the results, and Nigel put everything away ready for next week. We love how parkrun just pops up on a Saturday morning, and is gone just as quickly with no trace - all made possible by volunteers. Well done GoodGym!
