After last week's cancellation and last minute change of event, it was good to be back in the park with Crewe parkrun. Four GoodGymmers helped to bring the event together - Nicola on event set up (in between catching up with everyone in the park, including Colin the dog!) then barcode scanning, Nigel on course check and timekeeper, Karen as Run Director and results processor, and Mark on first timers welcome as well as grabbing the microphone to embarrass Karen (only joking! not embarrassed at all!) and announcing that today was her 350th time volunteering with parkrun! Wow!

Three GoodGymmers were up and ready fir volunteering at Crewe parkrun this morning, but early morning low temperatures resulting in ice stopped play in the park. Not to be defeated, Maurice, Karen and Nigel headed off to Trentham Gardens parkrun, and swiftly volunteered to help there instead! After a lovely parkwalk around the lake and Italian Gardens, the three spent 1.5 hours sorting around 870 tokens back into order ready for next week's event. The Run Director was incredibly grateful for the help, and it was nice still to be able to volunteer!

After 2 weeks enforced break due to Jack Frost, it was great to be back in the park again. Mark was Run Director today, and led a great event for 359 partucipants and an incredible 40 volunteers! Mark really took it in his stride when he found the pacer bibs had gone missing, but the show must go on - and there were lots of happy people grateful for the pacers today. Reports of PBs were incoming!
Mark was tasked with getting photos - he's such a shy retiring type we were surprised to get lots of selfies of him with the other volunteers! Not! Lol. His main task was to get a pic of camera-shy Nicola carrying out the first timers welcome - pleased Mark did get a pic for us! Marjo completed one of the most popular but longest tasks at parkrun today - the lovely token-sorting task, accompanied by coffee, after completing her parkrun. Well done Marjo!
Well done Mark, Nicola and Marjo - you made a lot of people happy today.

What a way to start 2025! 323 parkrunners and 30 volunteers - including 7 GoodGymmers - all leapt out of bed to join this special parkrun. This week the 7 Goodgymmers carried out the following roles: event set up, volunteer coordinator, first timers welcome, timekeeper, barcode scanner, number checker, course close down, token sorting, and the all important roles - participants! Why else are we all here?! Another lovely morning with lovely people, well done everyone.

Six GoodGymmers brought the sparkle to Crewe parkrun on a dreary damp Saturday between Christmas and New Year. Karen, Nicola, Maurice, Mark, Marjo and Nigel all volunteered, covering numerous roles: volunteer coordinator, returning rescued signs from the last parkrun (thank you Maurice!) , course set-up, barcode scanning, timekeeping, tidying away the kit ready for next week, helping an injured runner, sorting the tokens, and social media. Every part was greatly appreciated by the 325 participants.

Its the most wonderful time of the year! It seems everyone came out for parkrun on Christmas Day in Crewe this year, with 525 festive runners, walkers, Santas, elves, a penguin and a dinosaur!
GoodGym played some very important roles in making this wonderful event happen - Karen as Run Director with the safety brief, Nigel on set-up, Mark (dressed as a penguin, of course) and Marjo welcoming people to Crewe for the first time with the all-important welcome briefing, Nigel timekeeping (and that was a BUSY job!), Nigel, Karen and Maurice on course close-down, and at the end Maurice, Emily, Nigel and Karen all part of the token-sorting team. Karen's volunteering extended into the afternoon with results processing and updating social media.
Merry Christmas everyone!
