Cruse Bereavement Care

Somewhere to turn when someone dies

Cruse Bereavement Care is the leading national charity for bereaved people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We offer support, advice and information to children, young people and adults when someone dies and work to enhance society’s care of bereaved people.

Cruse offers face-to-face, telephone, email and website support. We have a Freephone national helpline and local services, and a website (hopeagain.org.uk) specifically for children and young people. Our services are provided by our network of 5,000 trained volunteers and are confidential and free. Cruse also provides training and consultancy for external organisations and for those who may encounter bereaved people in the course of their work.

20 GoodGymers have supported Cruse Bereavement Care with 1 task.

Cruisin' over to CRUSE

Sunday 28th January 2018

Written by Tom Mutton

We welcomed THREE new runners to our January starter session, please woop, hola and SUPPORT:

After finishing a FANTASTIC task with FREINDS OF SHEAF VALLEY PARK (FOSVP) in Norfolk Park we ran back to base at The Showroom Cinema to meet with some additional troops for the second task of Sundays double header.

We headed up through town on a busy Sunday and were warmly greeted by COURTEOUS KEVIN who was waiting at the door to lead us up the stairs to the second floor where we would step up to the task....

After a great brief from KIND KIRSTY we learned more about CRUSE and the fantastic work their volunteer base does with people facing bereavement. The task was to help spruse up the office and counseling rooms with a bit of cleaning and some fresh coats of mint and yellow paint to bring some colour into the offices.

We split into teams with some cleaning and some painting and fueled by biscuits and banter we smashed the task making the place look spotless - a mint job!

Once we'd finished the painting and th cookies we headed back outside and split the run back to base up with some:

  • Stair sets
  • Sprints
  • Bump Jumps
  • Rectangular sprint circuits
  • Tri Dips

Once we returned we stretched off and headed inside for a spot of lunch and chatter.

Great work everyone!
