You can't keep a GoodGymer Down!

Saturday 14th August 2021

Written by Ema Quinn (She/her)

We all woke up ready to get painting fences for our planned Community Mission in the Dingle, but, as is happening here and there at he moment, instead we got the message from the lovely people at the project that one of their team had tested positive for Covid and they were all in isolation waiting further test results!

Feeling a little disappointed and really valuing the joy of doing something together Sal suggested that we meet with our trusted litter pickers and clean up Princes Avenue Boulevard instead! Fabulous idea!! We then went one step further (as we GoodGymers do) and had a duel session with Sal, Jo and myself on the Boulevard and Pauline taking care of a area local to her in Runcorn, assisted beautifully by her furry friend team!

We cleared 11 bags of rubbish from the Boulevard over 3 hours, including finds of teddies, car door handles, footballs, and a body buff amongst all the usual rubbish, and left the newly redesigned and very beautiful Boulevard back in a state to be proud of.

A Rail-y Good Job!

Saturday 22nd May 2021

Written by Ema Quinn (She/her)

We have been back with the Bread Streets again helping out with what feels like painting never ending railings!! The neighbourhood group are there most weekends as it's a really slow and very big job, we are happy to add a few more hands in when we can.

It's making such a difference to the park though so it's all worth the effort. And it's only part of the plans the community has for the area. We are delighted to be able to join in (it's those amazing views across the Mersey that keep us coming back..... and maybe the cake and cuppa always on offer too!)

We'll be headed back for a third session on Saturday 19th June so come and join us!

Great to have Haila join us for her first session.

Fencey seeing you here...

Saturday 1st May 2021

Written by Ema Quinn (She/her)

After a starting mishap of half of us arriving at the wrong park down the road (opps!) we all manged to find our way, don our painting gear and get to it.

The paint specially designed for railings was like painting with tar and slow going, but on a fresh (slightly sunny) day with amazing views over the Mersey, the Beatles on loud speaker, and amongst the famous (and really pretty) Bread Streets we weren't complaining!

We joined in with the neighbours and were treated to cake and fruit and fab company. The local neighbourhood group are working really hard to do up the park and there is a clear sense of community, pride and love in the area.

We are planning a few more visits over the coming months (we did get cake after all!) So watch this space for more dates...
