Amplify the noise

Saturday 5th April

Written by Ben Foster

Thank you to the 514(ish) runners and walkers who completed Fletcher Moss parkrun event # 242. Even bigger thank you to the 20 volunteers who helped ensure the event ran smoothly.

I was RD so coordinated the volunteers (we were looking a bit short Thursday morning), set up the start/finish area, and tried my best to manage the funnel but with so many numbers, there are always a few funnel duckers!

Wonderful morning for it and the new speaker was super helpful! Even I was heard for the briefing!

Spring has sprung

Saturday 22nd March

Juno and I spent an hour or so picking up litter in Longsight and Birchfields Park. Collected 2 full sacks mostly of Miami Crispy takeaway waste, drinks bottles and cans, and several dummies.

Update: picked up another couple of bags in Longsight on Sunday morning too

After dropping Juno home, I ran to Fletcher Moss park to give the 1st timers briefing and marshal at Old Bedians rugby club (#5) for event number 240. 416 runners and walkers completed the 5 km course.

Before the canoe litter pick, I helped with some of the set up and barcode scanned at Fletcher Moss parkrun event #239.

435 runners and walkers completed the 5 km course on a clear but nippy Saturday spring morning. Managed to get a run there and across to Burnage afterwards.

Balmy event #238

Saturday 8th March

Written by Ben Foster

Approximately 475 runners, joggers, and walkers completed the 5 km course at Fletcher Moss this morning. Juno and I ran the course to check for any puddles or fallen branches/trees (thankfully there were none) and helped with the set up and marshal at Mount Fletcher (more of a slope than a mountain or hill...).

It was warm and sunny so we had bumper numbers with ~475 with the finish funnel tailing back out past the finish line! We helped a bit with barcode scanning and clearing up at the end before the run home.

Much aDoE about nothing

Saturday 22nd February

Written by Ben Foster

402 participants completed the 5 km course this morning for event #236. We had 23 doing their FIRST EVER parkrun. We had visitors from North Lincolnshire who provided some interesting facts about the history of Fletcher Moss. 16 volunteers enabled the event to take place with a bumper crowd of Duke of Edinburgh volunteers helping with the timekeeping, barcode scanning, and handing out tokens.

The weather felt much more spring-like and there were no issues with the parkrun. After packing away and processing the results, I made my way to Ardwick for my next mission.
