A breath of Grace Eyre

Tuesday 17th October 2017

Written by Tara Shanahan

Tonight we warmly welcomed Andrea to the group for her first Goodgym experience. Glad to have you with us!

A very big well done to all who raced the Bright 10 on Sunday. Michael, Scarlett & Louise were all recovering this week so we weren’t able to congratulate you in person, but we all acknowledged your fantastic achievements. Head to the website to give them a cheer.

We headed back to Mantell House for our task tonight. We’d done an amazing job of tidying up the front of the property a few weeks ago. There was just one shrub that we hadn’t had time to remove from the front bed and Lydia & Rose made short work of removing it. Meanwhile round the back there was a lot of litter to pick up, well done to Andrea & Helena for making a huge difference on that. Sherman was a sawing machine and really got stuck in to removing a Buddleia bush (I’m actually developing a bit of gardening knowledge!) that was totally obscuring a window. And we all got stuck in to bagging up the vegetation and the job was done within about 35 minutes.

We then headed to the utterly charming Tarner Park for our fitness session. One of the things I love about being involved with Goodgym is that I’m discovering places in my city that I previously never knew about and Tarner Park is one of them. It’s just delightful and there are some great community projects working within it. Hopefully we can help out with a task here in the future but for tonight the park was a perfect environment for a circuits session. We did 2 rounds of our 5 minute circuit before heading down the slide and back to base.

Next week we return to Exeter Street Hall for an indoor task. Sign up here.
