If anyone is wondering jäger, tequila and an 11am mission in Feltham aren’t a winning formula. For two of GG Hounslow’s longest living members this morning’s mission was a bit of a struggle. Our friend and fellow GGer Chris likes a shot, and there is no point even trying to decline. So this morning we found ourselves in the middle of Faggs Trading estate at the community allotment, under the heathrow flight path on a bright and breezy Sunday morning. We did our best to dig through the morning-after fuzzy head’s.
Our task at Heron way community allotments was to dig and clear as many dock leaves and stinging nettles that had grown in the allotment / chicken run as we could. The chickens were delighted when they realised we’d be digging for them as they love nothing more than to munch on a juicy worm or 6.
The chickens were being closely guarded by a Cockerel that’s recently been rehoused with the chickens. Cue much cockadoodle-dooing and feather flapping as Mr Cock made it known who was boss. To be fair we were the ones going around like headless chickens this morning so it’s no wonder Mr Cock was a bit put out we’d entered his territory, just as he was mid woo’ing with 3 of the females. Busy boy.
Although we weren’t in fine fettle today that didn’t stop us being rewarded with cake at the end of the task. It was Rin, our task owner’s birthday and she’d kindly brought cake for us and the other allotment goers. This was very much appreciated this morning before I set off for task number 2 in Hammersmith and Luis summoned up the energy to go and chase another kind of a (shuttle)cock around.
Rin would like some more help on an upcoming Sunday so look out for the task listing.
