3 Goodgymers donned their rollers and paint brushes to help Holy Trinity Church with painting the Bethany Room in their church hall.
Upon arrival the church warden Brian had kindly moved the chairs to the middle of the room, removed the curtains and filled a few holes in the wall ready for us to get stuck in with the painting. We decided to tackle the largest wall first, as we weren't sure quite how far the paint would go and thought this wall should take priority. Nigel managed to negotiate the tricky pipework and window whilst practising his cutting in skills. Katherine followed along close behind with the roller giving the broader wall area a new lease of life and getting over her fear of standing on the raised platform.
After getting off to a good start, enthusiasm was just starting to wane when the cavalry arrived in the form of Lil to boost the energy in the room. With Lil's roller skills the second wall was finished in no time so we rewarded ourselves with a lunch break, a cuppa and some delicious flapjack biscuits that Lil had kindly brought along.
This then just left us the two smaller ends to tackle which presented a few additional obstacles such as the black board, projector screen and more pipework that needed to be negotiated. By now we had honed our painting skills sufficiently that we managed these tricky areas with ease, with a bit of determination getting us to the end of the task. A quick whizz around with the vacuum cleaner and tools washed, we moved items back into their original positions and stood back to admire our handy work. Another job well done by the Goodgym team and the Bethany Room is now looking top notch ready for it's new carpet.
