I prepped the cakes and treats for the homeless shelter! I had lots of fun cutting/counting and clearing everything in a nice organised box! Met some amazing new people and got the job done super quick too! Was given some flowers as they would have thrown them away. Nice little treat towards my end of my mission and brightening up this rainy/cloudy day. Can't wait to go back!

I swopped in last minute to the rescue! I prepped/boxed indian food, made jacket potatoes and cut a whole bunch of strawberries! Great team and nice to hear Punjabi again! It was easy to follow and work in their team and felt like a proper family. All protected with my mask/gloves and got me hungry by the end of the task!!
Due to hygine and regulations - I didn't take pictures inside. But here are one of my homemade mask made by another Goodgymer and the place!

After being warmly welcomed by the team at LangarAid, eight GoodGym community mission runners were put straight to work as the meal starts at 6pm and there was lots to prepare!
Before any food preparation could start, we put on hairnets and gloves. Hairnets and running gear is a new look for us - but one that suits us well!
Our first tasks were to prepare cheese batches (rolls/cobs), toast bagels and unwrap and dish out cakes, snacks, fruit and vegetables. We then took up our stations, with GoodGymmers serving food, making tea and coffee, providing cutlery and condiments, serving drinks and chatting to service users, who were intrigued by the new volunteers in bright red t-shirts.
Once everyone had finished their meals, we supported the LangarAid team to tidy up by wiping down tables, sweeping floors and stacking chairs. It was a busy evening according to the regular volunteers, and before we knew it, it was time to pose for a quick photo or two in our hair nets before re-joining the group who had been gardening and litterpicking.

What a lovely evening! Our usual meet-up location was unusually quiet tonight as for the first time ever we had a community mission preceeding the group run. So 6 GoodGym Coventry runners set off to meet the 9 who were already present at Langar Aid.
The 9 GoodGymmers who had prepared the feed, served the feed whilst the others litter picked the site and weeded the allotments before heading inside to tidy up after the feed. It was great to be able to support for the whole of the session and hopefully something we can repeat in the future.
We all the headed back to the Council House to complete some 'Meet and Repeat' Reps before stretching and having a good catch up.
Looking forward to seeing you next week, remember start location may be slightly different so keep an eye on the group run listing.

Wow, what a contrast to last week with the weather and thank goodness the sun shone on us as there was a lot of raking to be done as 14 GoodGym Coventry runners headed to Langar Aid to rake the garden and litter pick and tidy the surrounding areas.
It was great to welcome three new GoodGym runners, Nigel, Ed and Victoria.
Having been greeted by some of the Langar Aid staff, roles were quickly decided and some cleared the garden of cut grass, some tidied the garden and swept and litter picked the surrounding area. It was clear to see how keen everyone was to complete the task well, conscientiously clearing and sweeping till the last moments.
It was great to meet not only some of the volunteers at Langar Aid but also some of the people who benefit form the work Langar Aid do and who would benefit from our hard work. Once the task was finished, it was great to see inside too to see the kitchen and dining area and learn a little more about the history of Langar Aid.
On our way back to Drapers, we stopped for a quick relay run with team 2 being the winners. Good work all and well done Pia for doing 2 legs on tired legs and Ed for helping maintain order.
See you all next week hopefully for some gardening at Spencer Park. Have a good week, Liz x
