3 Goodgymers got their weekends off to a flying start by helping Leamington Round Table with stuffing goodie bags ahead of this weekend's Regency 10k.
Having had a heavy hail shower shortly before we were due to begin, the executive decision was made to move the bag pack indoors. This meant carrying all the boxes of medals, t-shirts, bags and goodies into the building which was made much easier by creating a human chain.
It was then a case of opening a few hundred packets so that all items for the bags were loose and ready to be packed.
Nigel and Lil became part of the surreal party game where they walked in circles around a big table with their arms out like a scarecrow and acted as a human coat hanger whilst others put bags on their arms and then filled the bags with various items as they walked around the room. At the end of the circuit the bags were collected and tied together on a piece of rope and then passed through the window into the van.
Katherine was on bag duty, testing her buckaroo skills as she attempted to balance as many bags on people's arms as possible (or as many as they would allow her to) before they carried on round the circuit of goodies.
Just when we thought we had finished, another couple of boxes of medals were discovered under some boxes of t-shirts, so more rounds of the never ending game of musical chairs (where the music never stops and you don't get to sit down) commenced to get the last few medals into the correct bags.
1700 bags later, everything was packed away and a celebratory drink and snack was enjoyed!
Really looking forward to the race now when we can hopefully collect an expertly packed goodie bag having just enjoyed a great 10k!

4 members of GoodGym Warwick and Leamington Spa made light work of delivering 200 Christmas cards for Holy Trinity Church, informing local residents of upcoming events within the community over the festive period.
After a short jog from Jephson Gardens the group split into pairs to deliver cards along each side of the three roads that we had been asked to cover. We admired the few Christmas trees that residents had already put up in their windows. Once all the cards were delivered, we headed back along the parade to admire the Christmas and Diwali lights in all their splendour.
It was great to have James along to the run and Allan was always easy to spot in the dark with his blue trainer lights.
Looking forward to getting back into the swing of regular group runs in the new year!

The Three Musketeers and Iain went on a mission around the Royal Town of Leamington Spa to deliver leaflets far and wide - well across the Royal Parade and the houses around it.
Birthday Becky dressed in bunting, a santas hat (apparently you wear one for Jesus birthday so it was fine for ours) and the brightest leggings she could find rounded up the troops and sent them off in opposite directions laden up with surveys for the local church. Although all the intrepid explorers were from Leamington, we had never been down some of the roads, including the longest road ever before you get to a house.
All 500 leaflets were delivered and it was off to the pub for a birthday celebration and a covid secure wrapped cake. Becky even remembered the candle, although she forgot the matches.
