After parkrun, Maria and Sam walked over to Limes Walk Community Garden in Nunhead to help Serife turn over a large patch of grass as she would like to mulch it and extend the flower bed to grow more fruit and veg.
However, even an hour's work we only managed to turn around just under half of the grass. So, we will be back with a small group on Wednesday.

It was Alessandra's first GoodGym session as she met up with Maria and Sam for their first task at Limes Walk Community Garden. They met Sherife, who had been in contact with Sam about doing this task. Firstly, we went to the site to see what needed to be done before going back to the shed to collect the tools. With two mattacks, a pickaxe, loppers and two spades, they were ready to take out three/four hedges by the roots as well as save two plants that needed to be moved.
We had an hour, so we started on the main "dead" hedge which had the largest roots out of all of them. Alessandra and Maria concentrated on this whilst Sam dug out the two plants that needed to be transported.
After that they worked as a team to take out the remaining plants before using the last 15 minutes to chop the trimmings into smaller compostable sizes into the wheelbarrow as wooden bits take ages to compost if they aren't chopped up properly.
By 11:30, we were all done and Sherife was impressed with our hour that she will be calling us back again. 😊
