Smashed It!

Wednesday 21st August

Written by Nicola Marshall

It was a super productive evening by two Super Wonderful Women!!! The weeding of the many paving slabs outside the Motherwell building is pretty daunting with lots of people on board to help, let alone just 2 people!! But that didn’t deter our determined duo who got totally stuck in!! I’m sure you’ll agree that the difference is incredible!!

Motherwell have some very special visitors coming soon, so enlisted our help to try and spruce the front up a bit before their guests arrive! I think it’s fair to say that the wonderful Karen & Kimberley! delivered... and some!

Karen & Kimberley worked tirelessly until 7 bags were filled!!! 7 bags between 2 people in just short of an hour and a half is pretty good going!!!

Well done ladies - you’re incredible!! I know that your efforts tonight will be greatly appreciated by Motherwell

Lots of love. Nicola Xx

Letterboxes, Leaflets & Laughter!

Wednesday 26th June

Written by Nicola Marshall

I think tonight must’ve been the hottest night of the year so far!! It was definitely a bit muggy, but that didn’t stop Maurice and Nicola walking 6 km to deliver leaflets for the fabulous charity, Motherwell promoting a couple of fantastic upcoming events that support the community in a wonderful way.

Maurice and I decided to have a warm-up walk (let's be honest - we didn’t really need a warm-up did we?!) and headed down to the park. We did a lap of the park and enjoyed watching the squirrels, cygnets, ducks, swans and rats! I can’t lie, it was a very cute rat. Maurice and I decided it must’ve been a baby... as always, we put the world to rights as we notched up our steps. We never seem to run out of things to talk about do we Maurice?

We covered 6 km in total and got a fair amount of leaflets posted through doors. It was a lovely evening spent in fab company as always.

You’re a star Maurice, thank you as always for your support.

have a great week, lots of love

Let’s Get Leafleting

Wednesday 12th June

Written by Nicola Marshall

After all the rain we’ve had in recent weeks, we could not have wished for a nicer evening to do our leafleting task for Motherwell

Karen , Nigel, Maurice and Nicola set off on the scenic route to the housing estate where we were going to be delivering leaflets. Our walk took us through the woods and along the path by Joey the Swan. We didn’t see any swans mind you… :-) However, the housing estate we were delivering in had all their roads named after waterfowl. The ones I can remember are teal, pochard, mandarin, wigeon, cob and shoveler. I can’t remember anymore but I bet Karen can!!

The leaflets we were delivering were promoting Motherwell’s services, in particular their forthcoming attendance at the village fete where they are having a stall to help fundraise for the charity and to help continue to fund all the amazing work they do.

We all agreed that it was a lovely evening to be outside, especially in such a nice area. We were surrounded by fields, trees and the woods. It was lovely. Couple all of that with great company and it made for the perfect task.

We managed to deliver all of the leaflets and had a lovely walk back. We covered a fabulous 3 miles in total.

It was great to see Nigel back this evening. We've missed you!

Another fab task completed! Well done everyone ❤

Have a great week.

Lots of love. Nicola xxx

Baby It’s Wet Outside!

Wednesday 22nd May

Written by Nicola Marshall

Well, what a wet, miserable evening tonight was. We’re not used to this on a Goodgym night, but it completely scuppered our plans! We were due to be supporting Motherwell with some gardening tonight. Motherwell were all prepared, with lots of new plants for us to put into pots and beds, but unfortunately the rain had other ideas!

And so, we took the task indoors!! Luckily for us, Kate had plenty of things that she could give us to do - that’s the beauty of working for an organisation that does so many different things! Tonight we were tasked with sorting baby clothes into different, age categories. Motherwell run many different projects, and their baby bank is one of them.

Maurice, Karen and Nicola got stuck into the bags and before long had them all sorted into the relevant piles ready for the next set of volunteers to help in sorting them into bundles.

As always, we had a good old natter while we sorted the clothes and put the world to rights, covering every topic from parkrun to politics!!

It was lovely to spend the evening with lovely friends, despite the not so lovely weather.

Well done everyone - amazing work as always, you're amazing!!

Have a great week.

Lots of love Nicola Xxx

A Bravissimo Night!

Wednesday 1st May

Written by Nicola Marshall

Tonight, we returned to Motherwellto help with sorting more bras, so strap in while you read tonight’s report!

I know I regularly make a reference to the weather, but this is England after all! It had been a beautiful sunny day all day today, and just as we were due to meet for our task, the heavens opened! But luckily for us, it went as quickly as it arrived and we were able to enjoy our pre-task walk without any rain!

Karen , Maurice and Nicola headed down towards the park – which is something we often do when we are at Motherwell for a task but why not, when we have such a lovely Park on the doorstep!

We walked a brisk lap of the park before heading back to start our task.

The lovely Kate met us and gave us our job for the evening. We continued with sorting the bras that had been donated for the Motherwell bra fitting service. Kate told us that she had given out 46 bras to homeless women this week. What a wonderful thing to be able to do.

As always, it was a pleasure to support Motherwell with this task and we had fun and a good laugh as we worked. Evenings spent with lovely people doing things that help to make a difference in the community is always a win-win.

Well done, my amigos, you are amazing ❤

Have a great week. Lots of love, Nicola xxx
