Park Kids

Park Kids running events take place across the UK to inspire children, from toddlers to teens, to run together for fun and enjoyment, and always for free.

Children can run as much or as little as they want receiving rewards to celebrate their achievements and keep them motivated along the way.

11 GoodGymers have supported Park Kids with 2 tasks.

A Marathon Mission.....

Saturday 3rd October 2020

Written by Becky McWass

Today's mission was a marathon session of running laps.

5 members of GoodGym Warwick and Leamington turned up today to help run Marathon Kids based at St Nicholas Park, Warwick.

Marathon Kids is a local charity that offers free running sessions to children and their families, due to Covid the sessions we halted and we were lucky to be part of the relaunch this weekend.

The GoodGymers took on the role of children and families to enable the lovely leader, Cassie, to practice all the new Covid protocalls. This resulted in some games which seemed to be on pare with the GoodGym warm up. Becky has stolen a few ideas for her next fitness session.

Once warmed up the children then run/walk as many laps as they can in 20 mins. It seems you can't stop a GoodGymer running and a few of them joined in the children, although they were all beaten by a 9 year old...

The children loved running and it was lovely to be part of the first session back. Join us in November for the next session.

8 Young at heart GoodGym volunteers, Ran, Cheered, Jogged, Cheered, Walked, Cheered, Clapped, Cheered, Encouraged and Cheered some more, to help with organising Park Kids. 1st up (after set-up) of course was the fun of a warm-up, Peter Pan inspired as there were Tinkerbell mentions, captain Hook also got a mention (a good mention), There were Lost Boys (and Girls) and even a Nana ! With warm-up complete (and it was needed), onto the MAIN EVENT of the run, the children (and a few encouraging GoodGymer's) made their way around the circuit. At 250metres 4 laps were needed to complete 1KM, I don't know how many laps in total were completed, but I know most went over 12 laps. Well done to all the children that attended, you gave us GoodGymer's a great Saturday morning. Then some unofficial carParking duties performed by our Run leader so that everyone could get home safely.
