Two GoodGymmers donned the hi-vis and helped put on another successful junior parkrun event, this time for 86 juniors! Well done Claire and Maurice! Your tailwalking, marshalling and event close-down efforts were really appreciated by all the juniors, parents and the parkrun team.

Four GoodGymmers sported their warmest clothes for a fun but chilly morning at junior parkrun. A last minute change meant Karen finally got to wear the tailwalker tail - nearly 4 years after the event started! A little run was needed on the second lap to catch up with the children as one of the juniors decided they didn't want to finish so dropped out, that certainly helped to warm up! Marshalling the course were Maurice, Claire and Nigel, and everyone pitched in to close the event down ready for next week. Great work everyone!

Our superstar GoodGymmer Maurice racked up his 200th volunteering session at junior parkrun today - that is a top, top achievement! Amazing Maurice!
To reach 200 he has been a timekeeper 93 times, marshal 57, token sorting 27, giving out finish tokens 11, many weeks helping with putting all the equipment away, and today he increased his tailwalker tally to 14!
Tailwalker is an important role at parkrun to make sure no one comes last, and at juniors to keep the children safe. its always a but unpredictable at junior parkrun - will it be slow or fast? - today Maurice had to put a sprint on!
Well done Maurice and thank you for all you do for GoodGym and for parkrun. 72 juniors were physically active today thanks in part to your contribution.

ooh, that was a chilly morning! But seeing 68 juniors getting to take part in the first junior parkrun of the year definitely warmed the heart!
Claire, Emily, Maurice, Nigel and Karen gathered at the bandstand this icily-cold morning ready for an amazing morning of fun. Lots of juniors joined us for the first time, and today we saw two big milestones - one junior was awarded a wristband and badge for completing 100 junior parkruns! Simply amazing! The other was one of our most regular juniors, who was at the first event back in May 2021, got the first place for the first time!
Tasks done today by GoodGym included event set up, volunteer coordinator, marshaling around the course, timekeeper, event close down, and communications on social media. Well done everyone! We deserved the reward of hot drinks and great company afterwards in the cafe - and very impressed that Claire and Emily both got active and went running afterwards - sure was the best way to get warm today!

What do you do in that bit between Christmas and New Year where no one knows what day it is, and you are fed up of eating? Volunteer at junior parkrun of course! Thats what six GoodGym members did - they gathered in Queens Park and made the junior parkrun magic happen!
Claire, Emily, Maurice, Mark, Nigel and Karen carried out lots of roles - Run Director, event set up, course check, volunteer coordinator, first timers welcome, warm up leader, timekeeper, barcode scanning, marshal, and results processing. Phew! Thats a long list and a huge contribution from GoodGym. Well done everyone!

It was a mild morning at junior parkrun this week, with Claire tailwalking and encouraging juniors to run and walk, Emily dishing out the high-fives, Karen cheering and Maurice timekeeping. 59 juniors took part, some with their grown-ups - a great way to burn off some energy in the run up to Christmas!
