Anything But Snail's Pace!!

Wednesday 2nd August 2023

Written by Jen Stoneham

A team of hard-core GoodGymers battled the wind and rain this evening to help get the Mencap garden spick and span. Nia joined us for her first session in a while and had flashbacks to her first incredibly soggy GoodGym task!!

Maura heroically found her way to the task depsite getting lost and injuring herself whilst partying for her birthday yesterday!

We enjoyed watching the snails race up the wall away from where we were pulling up weeds. Katie was reminded of her snail racing days km her bedroom at home growing up - I imagine her mum wasn't best pleased!

We made a real difference in such a small space of time, well done to everyone for braving the elements this evening. Check out the before and after shots below!

Hedge-ing Our Bets

Wednesday 5th July 2023

Written by Jen Stoneham

Despite a day of dark clouds and scattered showers, we managed to avoid the rain for our Group Run this evening.

Special thanks to the team at Mencap for accepting us at such short notice this evening, and for providing plenty of refreshments!

Ellie, Dave and Jane tackled the hedges with loppers and secateurs, and Dave even brandished a strimmer at one point. Katie, Angela and Maura did some back-breaking ground-level weeding which made a huge difference to the paving area and small flower beds. We did try out a few back stretches and yoga moves to alleviate some of the aches at the end.

My sincere apologies for all the photos of people's butts today. Ellie has definitely provided the more artistic shots!
