Nice and easy bike ride to the meeting point and a 1K jog to get to the mission's location, then same on the way back. It was fun and we got to see a great sunset :)

A fun task this week. We met at the trendy Yonder, who kindly let me get changed as I'd rushed there from work. Then a walk-then-jog ("is this a walking club?!") zigzagging to the allotment.
Gate unlocked, we puzzled over instructions for a couple of minutes before piling in to prepare an overgrown bed for growing. We learned what a courgette plant looks like - that's something!
Lots of beasties in the undergrowth - including this cute snail!
A great job done by all. We're keen to come back!

As Clara ran down to the task yesterday she smugly thought to herself 'Wow, I've been so organised about this evening and I'm really on time today' and then this was immediately followed by the realisation that she had forgotten the only thing she needed to remember - the allotment key. After a very frantic sprint home powered by some very loud grime music she made it a mere 8 minutes late... sorry guys.
Charlotte, Hristo and Nadi were ready and waiting and we joined Ruby, a vision in pink, soon after to head to the allotments. Ruby figured out how to work the key and we were soon inside ready to get going.
Our task this evening was to plant cabbages and luckily Julia, from the Single Homelessness Project, had sent really detailed instructions. We got the tape measure out and Charlotte, Hristo and Nadi set to planting the cabbages (exactly 45 cm apart), watering them and then protecting them with a plastic cloche. Ruby did a great job mulching the strawberry beds and we had a go at weeding the other beds.
It’s great to see how much progress has been made at the allotment since our recent task planting the apple trees. Hopefully we will be back before too long!

Gentle jog together with Clara, Ramon and I from the WM Gallery, up to Higham Hill Road and the allotments. Gate unlocked, we saw a site with huge potential.
Planting trees was swift work - three kinds of apple! We dug deep holes and took care to ease the roots open.
We finished by starting to clear some grass.
A fox was around - beauty to see!
