Today saw a return to Sinfin Community Centre for round two of the fence painting mission ... this time with no confusion about paint colours!
With one more volunteer than last week, the challenge to complete a whole side seemed within reach, so the super team of Ashley (armed with his own brushes), Ellen (dressed for the part in overalls) and Naomi (camera in one hand, brush in the other!) set off with one person at each end and one in the middle.
Naomi's unknown competitive streak came out when a step back and a count up showed she'd covered the most panels .... well that lead didn't last long as it spurred us all on to improve our techniques and when we met in the middle it was Ellen who won the gold medal!
Huge thanks to the team today!

Ashley and Tracey met up at Sinfin Community Centre, where we had been asked to help with some fence painting. The task owner wasn't actually available to greet us, but had sent a deputy who provided us with two pots of paint and some brushes. We decided to use separate pots so we could tackle both sides of the fence at the same time. When we opened them up, one was medium oak and one was dark oak...
We suggested painting the inside of the fence with medium, and the outside with dark, and the chap from the community centre agreed that this idea was oakay, so we set to work. Unfortunately when the actual task owner arrived, it turned out that the medium oak paint actually belonged to the playgroup, and he produced another tin of the dark oak. No offence was taken; we did a quick changeover at the end of a panel, and you can't see the join (honest).
We had a pleasant couple of hours painting a few fence panels, some posts and a gate, enjoying a good chat in the sunshine. The task owner was very appreciative, and happy to provide us with tea and information about events going on at the community centre.
There is plenty more fence left to be painted, and it's a lovely friendly place with plenty of parking for cars and bikes, so please do join in on a future session on either 16th October or 23rd October.
