St James Church

The church has a lovely congregation of older people who have been with it for many years. Unfortunately, they are all getting on and have various health issues so could do with a hand with some of their events.

7 GoodGymers have supported St James Church with 3 tasks.

Tis the season to be lifting

Friday 5th December

Written by Jade

A massive festive effort from the team today at St. James Church in Morden helping set up their annual Christmas Fair. It was a great physical session with plenty of heavy lifting, moving tables, chairs, and countless boxes from storage to the main stall areas.

Thanks to our trademark GoodGym speed and muscle we completed the main setup in just 30 minutes. Leaving plenty of time to help with the organising phase, assisting with setting out the items on the stalls, and grabbing a well-deserved cuppa before heading out into the evening. A lovely contribution to the festive season's volunteering efforts.

Leave it to the prose

Saturday 18th October

Written by Caroline Helder

This was a novel task, helping to clear away the book fair, which was set up by other members of our team yesterday. It was the 47th edition of the fair and the organisers were immensely grateful for our GoodGym muscle. We shifted boxes of books, dismantled tables and helped to lift long rows of chairs down from the stage. With everyone on the same page, we were bound to finish in no time!

A literary workout

Friday 17th October

Written by Jade

This afternoon we visited a new location at St. James church to dive into a literary workout, setting up their highly anticipated book fair.

It was a serious lifting session moving countless heavy boxes of books, but the team's efficiency meant we tackled this huge logistical challenge in no time. We then moved onto the organising phase which required focus and precision as we sorted and arranged the many donated books, from fiction to non-fiction.

Great work, team! There's another chapter tomorrow helping with the packing away and plenty more events, so we will be back.
