The team assembled on site, with a small group having walked together and everyone else making their own way.
We were met by Jon who showed us the stacks of bulbs for planting and instructed us to fill the areas with as many bulbs as possible and then with any left put them in the flowerbeds in the playground.
Everyone armed themselves with tools and bulbs and got to work making a whole lot of holes and bedding the bulbs in!
Although all our work was hidden below ground we hope we will be able to see the fruits of our labour in the spring!

Six enthusiastic Good Gymers set to work weeding beds and clearing bindweed at St Lukes school. Adam and Ben showed great perseverance using a trowel, fork and finally a large spade to dig a deep hole for a shrub. There were so many rocks but eventually all the new shrubs were planted and watered. Gill planted up some colourful pansies in smaller pots whilst Yesim and Roberta completed the weeding of other beds. Finally we cleared up and made our way home before dark!

14 Goodgymmers breezed through the task at St Luke's School!
Everyone made their way to the school and we gathered in the car park to hear our list of tasks from Juli:
Although this sounds like a lot, the shed was quickly reduced to planks, the plants were uprooted, the planters were ousted, the soil was cleared and the weeds were extracted and the area was swept! If you blinked you missed it all!
All the debris was piled into the skip out the front and the soil was placed in a heap next to it. This was done using the largest wheelbarrow we had come across, so not as many trips were needed, and some old fashioned people power!
The team couldn't believe how quickly the list was completed and everyone gathered for a group photo on the benches in the lovely clear play area.

It was a warm evening for us to meet at Maidenhead Community Centre. Sophie led a warm up session and then split into groups of walkers and runners and headed over to St Luke’s School to meet our task owner.
After being shown the task we took a leaf of faith and having donned our head torches in preparation of the night drawing in we set about with the tools provided on the weeds and leaves around the side and front of the main building of the school.
Tony with his power tool was dressed for the occasion in action man leaf blower style. He b-leafed he could and he did!
We also had some pretty flowering plants to plant in the cleared areas which we then watered in.
We swept up all the debris and leaves (well we tried to in the wind) And we did get a bit leaf obsessed. But we did weedy well!
Then when the GoodGym bell rang and the task was completed we went off play and did circuits on the play equipment toning our legs, balancing and a run around the mini track before making our way back to the start for stretches and goodbyes. Our good weed the day!

Our Monday night community mission took us back to St Luke's School where (with the wind in our sails) we completed a speedy weeding session in the flower beds around the building - before dashing off for a range of other adventures including body combat, pom pom making and another GoodGym task!

Rachel, Sol and Sheila gathered at St Luke's CofE Primary School, armed with trowels, gardening gloves and a bag full of tulip bulbs. Oh, and night lights, as dusk had already fallen. We were met by taskowner Jon, who pointed us at the flower beds and gave us permission to plant the bulbs wherever we liked. The earth was nice and soft from recent rain, so progress was speedy and the bag of bulbs was quickly emptied. A great job by the team, and come the Spring should make a colourful display for the school.
