Food, glorious, food..

Thursday 17th August 2023

Written by Natalie (she/her )

One GoodGymer made their way to help out at a local top-up shop. By the time I entered St Matthew's Church at 8am, work was well underway preparing all the food. And what an extensive and organised operation it was!

Nearly 90 people were able to access affordable food - what an achievement. And brilliant to meet all the volunteers who work tirelessly to make this happen on a weekly basis.

Replacing runs for buns

Saturday 1st July 2023

Written by Natalie (she/her )

One GoodGymer headed back to St Matthews church for their monthly garden tidy up. A brief spell of rain threatened but passed quickly as did a power hour of clipping, strimming and cutting back.

As ever the regular volunteers made Natalie really at home and were incredibly grateful. So much so that Natalie left with a tupperware box full of dairy-free raspberry buns. How generous and thoughtful!

Look out for future Community Missions to support their Top-Up Shop.

'Bin there, weeded that'

Saturday 20th May 2023

A glorious morning at St Matthew's church for this weekend's Community Mission. As Natalie arrived, the volunteers were already hard at work getting the garden tidy. Jacquie, who supports the church, welcomed warmly and introduced us to everyone. Clara was next to arrive and it was great to meet her. Thanks for the quick Portugese lesson, Clara! Lovely to see Bruce and Imogen too, fresh from Park Run! And you think that's a productive morning, they've also been busy learning to scuba dive since we last caught up!

Cake, biscuits and sausage rolls awaited the volunteers as the churchyard looked much neater. Thanks to St Margaret's church for such hospitality : and organising such great weather :)
