Tonight we ran to Stanhope garden to do some weeding. James and Amy meeting us at the task.
On arrival we started the weeding, but after some rain we called it a night on the task and did some hills. Liam did attempt to shelter under a plant pot!
The group did 6 hills with jog back down recoveries. A rainbow came out, meaning the group ran up the hill to the rainbow! See the pics!
Once done we all ran back to 1000 Trades, thankfully the rain held off!

Tonight was the 10th anniversary celebrations for GoodGym, so with the flag ready we headed to Stanhope for the last time this summer.
On arrival we got Liam to help hold up the flag, with it being his birthday as well! He is slightly older then 10 of course! That is obviously the reason behind this weeks pun, thought up by John. Once inside (well outside of course!) we did plenty of weeding as the sun was going down. After that was done and we headed off from Stanhope for the last time until next spring, the group were ready for some interval training, in the last of the light.
Pyramids were the order of the day. A mix of 30, 45 second and 1 minute efforts. Everyone worked well, John and David pushing from the front. Naomi worked hard on each effort, showing great form. Mariam pushed hard in preparation for her run at the Midland Road Relays on Saturday representing Bourneville Harriers. Laura and Morwenna pulled each other a long with Charlotte and Jane doing likewise. As ever it was a great sight to see the group charging a long the wide open road, giving it everything, top stuff!
Once done there’s always the tough run back and of course it’s always up hill! However as the temperatures dropped and the light started to go (yep sadly winter is on its way) a hilly run kept the chill away as we headed back to 1000 Trades.
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.

We welcomed two newbies to GG for tonight’s run. It was a warm welcome to Miriam and Naomi. Luckily with a lot of rain around earlier on in the day, tonight it held off, we even were treated to some evening sunshine.
With Tom doing the front marker job and Charlotte the back, we set off to our task. Around a 3k run up to Stanhope garden. On arrival it was weeding the garden and clearing the weeds in between the paving flags for tonight’s task.
After we had spent a good twenty minutes in the garden, we headed off. Tonight’s fitness sess was some, short, sharp intervals. Yep 10 x 20 second efforts, with 20 seconds rest. Balal shot to the front with Tom and Antonio. Miriam and Naomi put in some great work in their first GG fitness session. Everyone of course worked well and pushed hard the whole session, even on that cheeky longer last rep I added in at the end.
Once done it was ‘just’ the steady run back to 1000 Trades! I say ‘just’ as it’s always quite tough running back after a killer interval session and to make it even harder, it’s all up hill! Anyway everyone made it back in one piece, so jobs a good un!
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.

Tonight’s pun was thought up by Emily, I don’t think I need to explain the reasons behind it somehow! Anyway if you were in any doubt, tonight has to be the wettest ever GG Brum!
First things first, tonight’s task was gardening! Unlucky! Understandable it was cancelled! Things more useful then gardening in tonight’s weather probably include....an inflatable dart board, a chocolate teapot and concrete armbands, to name just a few!
After a chat with the group it was decided we would go for a steady run. It wasn’t the weather for standing still! We headed for the Soho Loop, which takes in some nice green parts of the canal. Once we got going apart from your trainers being full with water It wasn’t to unpleasant after all. Liam did the front marking duties and Fiona the back. With it being so wet, picture taking was a little awkward, but I did get a couple under the bridges during the run. We carried on along the Soho Loop, through Brindley Place, then off the canal at St Paul’s square and back up to 1000 Trades. One last picture of the group well and truest soaked was taken and with that we called it a night! Still a good near enough 7k was completed by the group, so a decent nights workout. Hopefully when they receive this report they have eventually dried off!
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.

We welcomed Antonio to GG Brum for the first time tonight, it’s great to have him on board.
On a very ‘sweaty Betty’ night (humidity was very high) we had a nice outdoor task to attend. We ran to Stanhope garden for plenty of weeding, hence this weeks pun. After a few cricket related suggestions, I plumped for Will’s effort. Of course we needed to honour our World Cup heroes! I still can't believe it!
Once at Stanhope, it was lots of weeding and pulling up grass, to give the garden a nice tidy. One could say when we had finished it nearly looked as good as a cricket pitch!
Once the task was done the group did some short, sharp interval work. The session was six times 30 second ‘efforts’ with 30 seconds rest in between each one. Antonio put in a great Session on his first GG outing, John and Balal took on the pace, pulling everyone along. Top work everyone on such a humid night, you all worked your hardest.
Once done we took the easy run back to base. I think everyone was ready for a shower, of course after some re-hydration!
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.

It was another wet one tonight, hence the pun! Do you remember the band Travis?!
Anyway, we still had twelve keen GoodGymer’s ready to do some good! One of them being Hilary, who joined GG Brum for the first time, being up here for work. She visited from the big smoke, with Newham being her home ground.
Front and back markers assigned, John doing the front and Aidan the back, we headed into the rain for our first visit this year to Stanhope Community Garden. On arrival with it being so wet, we were unsure what job they would have for us. Anyway the task was weeding, so we decided to get all the weeds out the paving flags, too avoid getting covered in mud! What a grand job the group did! In twenty minutes, I couldn’t see a weed in between any of the concrete paving flags! If only I had took a before and after pick! Oh and sorry for the lack of pics, with it being so wet it wasn’t the best night for picture taking! Anyway the group should be very proud of their efforts, we really did make a difference!
Once the task was done we headed back to 1000 Trades, I decided to abort any interval work with it being so wet and slippery (have I mentioned it was wet?!). Anyway the group still did a good run back, and the way back from this task is always up hill, so there is always plenty of tired bodies on the arrival back at base!
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.
