The Bridge House Theatre

Community and Creativity
“The Bridge House Theatre opened in 2014 and JLA Productions relaunched it in 2021 with Artistic Director, Luke Adamson and Associate Director, Joseph Lindoe. Our programme features shows from established small-scale companies as well as offering opportunities for emerging theatre-makers. The shows are entertaining and socially conscious and all offer opportunities to, and representation of, groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the theatre world. This includes but is not limited to: Working class artists, Artists from the Global Majority, Non binary or gender fluid artists, LGBTQ+ Artists and the Nero-divergent community.

Tonight we had a terrific trio for a last minute change of plan. We took a trip up to the Triangle to spread the word about the fab Bridge House theatre. They’ve got a wide range of important topics covered in their summer programme, which primarily supports new independent theatre writers.

We met at the Bridge House and took a turn about the park, and even went cross-country to avoid a peloton of cyclists racing around the paths. Heavily laden with bags of programmes, we made it to the top and wandered around shops, pubs, the library and churches, distributing programmes to be left on tables for the community to pick up. Luckily Crystal Palace is very community-minded so places were happy to take them. And fortunately we had the ingenious Ian with us who had the initiative to wrap a bunch of programs in cardboard, borrow a pen from fast food shops and ask the venues to share the programmes before dropping them through the letter boxes.

We only had a small pile left come the end of our journey and had a nice downhill jog back to base.

Nice one, chaps!
