I completed a solo Community Mission as I returned to Tyne View Primary in Walker, to help the Children's Foundation. We have been helping to transform their brand new Reading den, a brilliant project to encourage reading (check out the before and after photos!) The grand opening is planned for next Friday.
It was my 150th GoodGym good deed which feels like an amazing achievement. I feel like I've achieved so many new skills through GoodGym and being a member of the GG Newcastle taskforce. GoodGym has helped me in so many ways.
I started off very shy and unsure at the beginning in 2018. Now I absolutely love meeting new people, finding new tasks and leading Community Missions. I've even recently started cycling to Community Missions, something I would never have done before (I've never been the most confident on a bike!)
A huge thanks to Anji (GG Newcastle Area Activator) for supporting and inspiring me since the start!

Rae and myself completed a really lovely Community Mission on a return visit to Tyne View Primary in Walker to help The Children's Foundation.
We were continuing to help the School to create an amazing and inspiring new space to encourage Reading and make it really enjoyable.
We had a fun time adding the 2nd coat of paint (the pupils had picked out the brilliant colours!) The progress that we have made from the first visit is great!
There is still more to do so there is likely to be a return visit next week to continue painting.

It was a wonderful first mission for the Children's Foundation yesterday!
Katy and Charlotte began painting the 'Reading Rocks' Den at Tyne View Primary in Walker. The project will support children in the school boost their reading after the recent disruption in their education, so its an honour to be part of this project! Also, the children have been heavily involved in the design of their special reading space, and the blackboard wall and striking stripes were all their choice. I can't wait to see when its finished!
It was great to start this task off and we hope to be able to go back next week to finish off the job. Keep an eye on your emails to sign up!
