Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! some 0-18month baby clothes for sorting…

Saturday 6th August 2022

Written by York runner

James, Louise and I headed off after a warm and sunny parkrun to Scarcoft Primary school to help the Collective Sharehouse with their mountain of donations to sort. We met Mitchell and Tamar at the school and quickly got to sorting.

There were some great Abba tunes playing to get us in the partying spirit. And Mitch did confess this was his second time listening to Abba in the last 24 hours…

There were many questions about actually how big children are… Mitch and I holding up 9-11 year old clothes that would almost fit us!

We had a lot of baby clothes to sort into categories. From onesies and T-shirts to the “trousers and other leg” section. As well as miscellaneous section that included swimwear, hats and a tie for a baby… gotta get that office chic outfit sorted young!

After one hour of sifting and sorting, along with the other volunteers, we had sorted through the many bags and had the place ready for people arriving for the Sharehouse opening at 11am.

Great work team and we hope someone finds a home for the many miscellaneous items and really good quality second hand clothing!

Sort it out!

Monday 21st February 2022

Written by Vicky Hearson (she/her)

Five of us met to help the Collective Sharehouse sort out donations of clothes, shoes and toys. Luckily we were sheltered from the wind for this task.

The organisers were feeling overwhelmed by the number of bags and boxes but with our help we'd hung up the adult clothes, puts shoes into boxes and filled drawers with children's clothes sorted into different sizes.

After an hour it was pretty much done and all hangers used up and Team Sort it out headed to Bishy Road for a cuppa.
