Chucky it in the bin

Sunday 15th January 2023

Written by Leanne (she/her)

Alicia from The Conservation Volunteers was pleased to see us boost her volunteer numbers this morning as there was a lot of litter to pick at Bell Farm play area.

Armed with litter pickers and bags we spent a productive hour clearing bottles, cans, wrappers and a plethora of discarded (probably evil) dolls, amongst other things.

We left the park looking a lot tidier.

It takes two (nights) to make a thing go right, it takes two to move it out of sight.

Timely TEgg, TEd and TMitch were already Tackling the Tremendous Tower of Topsoil that remained after Take one of the TCV Ten Tonne Transport Task from the night before when I, Latie Tatie arrived for Take Two.

After getting a briefing from the lovely Jo, it was clear that this was going to be another Titanic evening…perfect for Tenacious Goodgym-ers. Not long after we were joined again by Tim (who took the opportunity to run off his delicious sounding lunch), Lindsay and Kate.

Navigating the Tenebrous Trails, we delivered barrow after barrow of the Troublesome Terrain that had been Tormenting the gardens to the Titan of a skip with its ever evolving ramp system, of which many of us soon learnt the Temerity of an overly full wheelbarrow.

With a depleting team as our Task Time Teetered Towards Twilight, TMitch, Tim and I persevered until the rain and darkness finally got the better of us, but safe to say both nights have helped in a Terrific Transformation of the Territory. Rest assured this Tale is not Through yet. Stay tuned for Take Three!

Thank you and Ta-ra.

Shifting Soil down to a T

Wednesday 6th November 2019

Written by Tim Mckenzie

Tim, Ted, Ticky and Tarbara took to their ten tonne transport task twith terrific talent and tenacity. Terribly the ten tonnes twere in three towers. Twas tmore tlike ten trillion tonnes treally!

Alas the alliteration always runs out in the end.

So the task was to shift the toxic soil out of the sensory community garden. Run by volunteers they have won RHS awards, but have struggled to fight off invasive weeds. So are in the process of getting the bad soil out to compost and then the new good soil in. Our team of 4 managed to shift the majority of the first of 3 piles of toxic soil. Even if Ed had a little accident on the ramp at one point.

Good luck take 2!
