Trees for Cities' Community Planting Event at Redbridge Recreation Ground

Trees for Cities are working with London Borough of Redbridge to plant new trees in the Recreation Grounds to increase trees canopy cover in the area.

This is a free community tree planting event, where everyone is encouraged to get stuck and plant new trees! The new trees will increase the canopy cover in the area, benefitting both local wildlife and human wellbeing. All tools and supervision will be provided. There will also be free refreshments and lunch.

5 GoodGymers have supported Trees for Cities' Community Planting Event at Redbridge Recreation Ground with 1 task.

Muddy Waters

Saturday 14th January 2023

Written by Redbridge runner

The Trees for Cities organised a lovely event with many people from around the neighbourhood showing up to plant the trees! Goodgymmers arrived in their own time spreading out across but eventually finding their way to each other for introductions and then lovely lunch.

The day consisted of digging up holes to put the young trees that hopefully will establish and create a lovely diversity of plants and insects. It was one MUDDY task - there was just no escaping it! After some drizzles the heavens really opened up with heavy rain that thankfully went away fairly quickly and by then no one cared - good fun work whatever the weather!!!
