15 runners ran nearly 8km to help out at a gem of a garden in Wavertree.
This week's run was longer than usual, as we sought out a new task. After nearly 4km of steady running we finally stumbled upon a beautiful little garden, unusual in its urban surroundings and next to a busy main road. We were welcomed by the lovely Joyce and John from the Wavertree Society who had organised each mini task into a bag with tools, gloves and instructions.
The tasks varied from sweeping moss off the paths, to removing deadwood, to oiling the planters, painting a bench and edging the grass. There was something for everyone! The team got stuck in and we did as much as we possibly could with limited time. Our efforts were rewarded with chocolates :)
A big shout out and well done to newbies Claire and Ruth, who picked a tough week to join us but happily kept pace and got stuck in. We hope you'll run with us again soon.
The run back took a slight detour passed the Liverpool aquatics centre and close to Wavertree running track - anyone up for a track training session soon?
Although we were a little late back to base, I have a feeling that the team would be more than happy to return to this lovely task. Maybe a Community Mission next time, so we can stay for longer? Get on it Task Force!
Next week is a Bank Holiday Monday BUT there are still good deeds to be done! It is a much shorter run and the sun always shines on Easter Monday (!!!) so come make the most of your day-off.
