Sue, Keith and Lea as well as Roger, not a Goodgym member, turned up at the Beaufort Community Centre to start our “barrow” load of fun: filling wheelbarrows with soil, compost or woodchip, wheeling them to various gardens on the estate, lifting them up steps and over fences as well as emptying their contents in the right places. We ended up in the Rookery, emptying the first one of the huge (beautifully painted by Goodgymmers on another occasion) garden boxes. Beautiful sunny weather made for a very satisfying activity! Four runners, Janet, Sue, Keith and Lea, turned up to join The Planet Doctors and The Secret Garden volunteers to help the Grow Your Own Garden project with their latest project Crop Swap.
One garden needed “a bit of rubbish” cleared out first, but for the rest: Lots of wheelbarrows needed to be filled with soil and compost, wheeled around to lots of gardens, to then be emptied in garden beds. Lots os steps involved as the gardens were spread out over quite a few roads. Dirty hands, dirty pants but many happy members of the community!

At GoodGym Bournemouth we LOVE a painting task, so it was great to have 5 of us together as the weather cooled down to head to The Rookery to paint flowerboxes for the 'Your Planet Doctors' charity!

We met the lovely Anne who had some big pots of bright paint, and we quickly got to work to see how much we could get done in 1 hour.

On the red team we had Marianne and Hannah, on the blue team we had Keith and Lea, and on the yellow team was our very own ray of sunshine Sue.

It's amazing what a lick of paint can do, we had multiple people stop and tell us how great it looks, and we have to agree! What a difference some bright colours can make 🌈

Your Planet Doctors are an amazing charity encouraging gardening and growing fruit and veg for mental health... we definitely left there feeling better than when we arrived and like we'd achieved something good.

And I left there feeling even better than usual, as I've FINALLY hit my 100th good deed! Very proud to still be part of something really special at GoodGym Bournemouth 🥰 - Hannah

Leah, Keith and Sarah met Cheryl at Stourfield Infant School on Saturday to help the school set up some planters for the children to learn about growing food and staying healthy.

They were welcomed by beautiful weather and surrounded by lovely wildlife.

They managed to sort out lots of the planters and get things in place for the children to start growing their own food.
