Leicester Report written by David Snutch
As part of the Leics Partnership NHS Trust sustainability week and at the request of GoodGym regular Frank Lusk we ran this one as a special event to give staff at the LPT a taster of what GoodGym is about.
The weather was kind and a small but very willing group of the LPT staff came along to give it a try.
The event started with a 20 minutes out and back run through Thurmaston village and en route to King Lears Lake. When we had all got back to base it was over to he car to stock up on bags and litterpickers and then we made for the river.
The recent weather had made sure that plenty of plastic and other rubbish had been washed up on the shores of the soar and in just 30 short minutes we had filled over a dozen black bags with litter. Amazing how much can be achieved with even a small group in just a short space of time.
Back to base and it was time for a little more exercise. Trainer Dave demonstrated the moved for a 10 minute timed, all body workout. As a reminder: Reverse Lunge x 10 on each leg, Split Squats, x10 each side, Bridges x 10, push ups x 10 then 30 seconds of stair climbers.... repeat as many times as you can for 10 minutes.
There was a young dog out for its walk with its owner who seemed very keen to join in. It was quite comical watching him try to puzzle out what these mad people were up to.
All good fitness sessions finish up with a stretch or two and this one was no exception.
I hope everyone enjoyed the experience - everyone is welcome to come to usual GoodGym sessions and if you need any help with setting up a workplace group then I am sure you will let me know.
