Mother nature was definitely on our side this Wednesday morning when 12 awesome new members of the Brompton team joined GoodGym for the first time to help Horsenden Hill Farm. The weather forecast didn't look great and we were expecting to get rather wet but in the end we had nothing but blue skies!
After a previous visit from the Brompton team a few weeks prior, we were back joining the Friends of Horsenden Hill who are a group of volunteers that work together to help make the farm and surrounding area a space for everyone to enjoy!
The ride from Brompton HQ to Horsenden Farm is a really beautiful cycle along the canal, we're so lucky to be able to enjoy a traffic free route for urban adventure! After the quick mile ride there the group were eager to get started with helping around the farm and we wasted no time in finding the tools to get getting.
Here's just some of the amazing things we achieved on the farm this time:
We dug over a huge patch of land ready for planting
We helped make a path safer by laying down new chicken wire
We cleared tons of weeds and overgrowth along the paths
And we all got an excellent workout whilst helping in a beautiful community space
By the end everyone was so immersed in what they were doing I literally had to tear some people away from their tasks! We had just enough time before the cycle back for a quick trip onto the trail behind the farm to visit the Gruffalo - designed for kids but definitely fun for adults too as demonstrated by the smiling faces in the photo.
Excellent work team!
