Lambeth Report written by Mark Gilyead (he/him)
What a delightful evening for doing good.
We met in golden hour, discussed which plant we'd be (with some very thoughtful reasoning) and welcomed brand new GG runners Jesse and Tim, as well as brand-new-to-Lambeth-group-run-runners Lindy, Rachel, Katie and Federico 👏👏👏 Lovely to have you along!
Our task was a brisk 2k from Papa's and despite a couple of traffic light squat stops, we made it to Fairholme House with energy aplenty.
Orsetta from the incredible Urban Growth gave us a bunch of tasks, mostly involving brown stuff:
🍂 Compost turning - which Becca, Lindy and Chris managed with aplomb(??)
🍂 Most of us were based at a huge pile of mulch (basically woodchip) which was to be moved onto the ground around some raised beds. Some shovelled and some wheel barrowed. And we also bagged a load of it which was going to another nearby community garden!
🍂 Then we had our team of rakers, Federico, Clare and Michael who spread the mulch across some weed-proof tasks, just like one might spread Nutella on toast 👅
The task was done in no time, and now the residents of Fairholme House have a bouncy surface to their garden to enjoy whilst tending to the veg, and some thoroughly turned compost.
On our way back, we took a little detour for a classic game of rock, paper, scissors with a fitness twist.
Great work guys :)
Next week I'm not about so Sarah is leading a sesh to Jubilee Primary School. Here's the link.

Wandsworth Report written by Sophie Humphrey
It was great to get Goodgym Wandsworth back together once more and see more friendly faces after too long an absence. It was the first time many of us had visited Christchurch Gardens outside of winter and we certainly couldn't miss the big pile of wood waiting for us with what appeared to be last year's pine Christmas tree thrown into the mix! There were a variety of tactics at play with some magnificent sawing technique attacking the bigger logs and brute force appearing to win over tools for many on the smaller bits. With some satisfying cracks of branches, we certainly ticked off the Gym element! There was a healthy amount of competition trying to beat the number of bags achieved in previous missions and we walked away very satisfied leaving behind a much smaller pile. To be continued I'm sure...
A very warm Wandsworth welcome to Chris on his first mission too!

Wandsworth Report written by Anastasia Hancock (she/her)
Happy birthday to us Happy birthday to us Happy birthday dear GoodGym Wandsworth Happy birthday to us!
Last night we turned a massive FIVE YEARS OLD. We're all grown up! Over the years we have been very busy doing
7727 GOOD DEEDS
572 missions to help older people
101 373 km run
Phenomenal stats, I think you'll agree! If you want to read just how far we've come then have a look at the very first run report here.
We celebrated last night by welcoming (Rishta to her very first group run - great to have you join us! We also cheered Lorna who reached that brilliant 100 good deed milestone - what an achievement! And of course, we had a lovely task ahead of us helping out at a rooftop community garden.
After a short run down there we were met by volunteer Malissa who got us working on several jobs. While one group got started sweeping and clearing weeds, the rest got stuck into the compost, discovering some monster spiders along the way.
We were watched by several curious cats who have made the garden their home, and before long, and slightly muddier than when we started, the job was done.
Before we left we did an Olympics themed fitness session, which saw the Refugee Olympic Team compete against the Russian Olympic Committee and both emerge with gold as join winners.
We finished off a lovely birthday evening with a run back, some stretches and a social at the local. What could be better! Well done everybody - here's to the next five years of getting fit and doing good!

Federico earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Federico completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Federico was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.
