Birmingham Report written by Jonny Carter
14 people ran 11k to FareShare to organise a food order
Tonight, it was great to welcome two newcomers to GG Brum, both Evelyn and Rob, it’s great to have you involved. They both chose a top night for their first group run, it was to be the longest one yet. We have been to FareShare before, but with the night’s drawing in we had to take a slightly different route this time, avoiding the canal, making it around an extra 1k in total. After the introductions Aidan, fresh back from his trip across the Atlantic to America kindly offered to back mark and I led from the front
Time to chill
Once arriving at our task destination, everyone was on the hot and sweaty side, the temperatures are quite high for the end of October, been a Yorkshireman this is good though……it saves on heating bills! Anyway, what better way to cool down than a nice big walk-in fridge! Everyone got in and with Chan missing Rob (the original) did the honours of taking the selfie. Once that was done it was on with sorting the order. Everyone mucked in carrying food to the van were Aaron organised it. I took plenty of photos including a few good 'mug shots'!
it’s a bit late
We were a bit late leaving the task as it was a slightly bigger food order this time, but we were keen to get it finished so the group were happy to get back to 1000 Trades a little later than usual. Anyway, we all headed back together, everyone worked well on the run back, as after the run there, then the task the group were likely to be ‘feeling it’ by the end, apart from Aaron who said he felt better on the way back! Sam pushed hard all the way back and Morwenna ran strongly. Abbie also put in some great work for her first run with GG for a few weeks and a special mention must go to Evelyn, who really did get thrown in at the deep end on her first group run, but she did fantastic! So, that was that, 11k in total, officially the longest GG Brum run since we started in January, so well done every single one of the group! Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.

Bath Report written by Bath runner
Autumn may have fallen in Bath but that didn't stop 10 fabulous runners from putting their best football feet forward for a 5k run out for a spot of leaflet dropping for Bath City football club ahead of their annual community day on 21st October. The club is community owned so don't miss out on this fun packed day for all the family.
Welcome to Rosie and Joe joining us for their first taste of Goodgym.
Three cheers to Mary and Rosie on completing their first marathon in Bournemouth on Sunday. Well done to Pascale on another marathon in the bag ahead of The Eden project Marathon this weekend... GO GIRL!!
These speedy guys soon had 200 leaflets posted to promote Bath City football clubs community day. This is going to be a fun packed day for all the family and will raise vital funds for the community led football club, make sure you spread the word and go along on the day.
Time for task two
With the leaflets well and truly posted we had time left to shift some bark chip at the foot of some community allotments on a very slippery grass pathway,
The team certainly worked hard tonight bagging up the bark chips and shifting them along a length of muddy ground at the bottom of the community allotments. A bit of OCD with the variation in bark shade along the stretch of path but all was made very clear when Katie and Rosie spilled the beans on newbie Joe bagging up the lighter bark because it weighed less...HA!! they certainly marked his card.
Great to hear everyone enjoying themselves whilst getting fit and doing good tonight helping out two great community led projects.
TIME UP
Run back to the leisure centre for a well earned stretch out and reminder to bring your documents along to your next group run and get mission verified.
Thanks to Emma for back marking and Joe for a Barking mad pun
Well done you crazy bunch

The allotment area at the Y is overgrown and disused - by bringing it back to life we can hopefully encourage residents to use and look after it

An autumnal 6k run in Bath this evening to Action on hearing loss for a spot of gardening for 15 lending a hand to Evan who tends to the vast beautiful gardens at the sheltered housing for people with hearing loss.
Massive welcome to Katy joining us for her first taste of Goodgym.
Pascale led the group out tonight with Steph back marking, lets face it we are so inclusive in Bath we have our very own sign interpreter AKA Pascale...WHOOP!! We are lucky.
Evan was on fine form this evening and a former shadow of himself, he's started running and is training for his first Bath half marathon in march. He could join in the Goodgym Bath fun.
TIP TOP EVAN
We worked in two teams for 30 minutes, weeding and tending two individual flower beds. Evan was busy organising the wheel barrows to collect up for composting.
Great to hear everyone chatting away and to see Pascale signing with some of the residents at the center. keeping fit whilst doing good and socialising with a great bunch.
Can't be beaten fir the body and mind
Group photo before saying our goodbyes and heading back to the leisure centre just in time.
Thanks guys for making a Tuesday evening fabulous.
Don't forget to sign up to our birthday celebrations later this month https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/goodgym-bath-is-turning-two

A short run 1.5 k run in Bath for 12 fabulously fit and funky people. This evenings task took a slight turn but in a good direction to Parade Gardens, a truly beautiful Park and a focal point for Baths many tourists situated next to Pultney Weir and the task itself to paint between the stone columns.
Big Shout Out to the Two Claire's
joining us for their first taste of Goodgym Bath. I do hope both enjoyed themselves, I know we loved having them along tonight.
Second Shout out to Mary
She's completed 6 Good deeds and ran a whopping 103k so far this month, whilst training for her first marathon.
The group opted for the short rather than shortest route out this evening but only as long as they could enjoy the shortest of the routes back after the task.
Paint !! We love to paint
Brushes, tiny rollers and paint at the ready and everyone to took great care painting inside the archways and making sure not to get any paint on the Bath Stone columns. We soon had it licked as far as we could reach, Super Steve and Sam cutting a fine line at the top.. Well done guys!!
Lights camera action from Lydia, squatting and shining our swanky floodlights.
We managed to get all three panels done and even had time for a selection of group photos.
Didn't They Do Well
The route back was the shortest of the short but it made a nice change from our normal hilly locations and gave us opportunity to enjoy some Goodgym banter.
An AWESOME BUNCH, I think you'd agree. Though they did try to zip me shut in my protective paper suit.

Tonight's 6k run for legs 11 runners was all about Flyering for various walks around Bath from Bathscape walking festival taking place throughout September to a circular walk of Bath for Julian house and some sugar smart leaflets thrown in for good measure.
GOOD HEALTHY STUFF
word was out that STORM AILEEN was set to join us for this group run but the only lovely ladies we were letting in this evening was
CARYL and KELLY
Caryl plays rugby for Bristol and Wales and Kelly a former Bristol player ... Epic stuff, so WELCOME to Goodgym Bath ladies.
HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to MARY hitting the BIG 50 (i don't mean age) she earned her Black Tshirt ...whoop!!
Well done to everyone who raced at the weekend, some great achievements for the GG race team and Bath.
A gentle jog out to warm up on the way out as the rain and wind made its appearance , the only other off putting thing might have been the 118 steps up to Alexandra park to the view point for a birds eye view of our beautiful city, i think everyone enjoyed a breather.
No time to stop though!! Aileen was fast approaching and if we didn't move swiftly it was going to be a washout in Bath.
A divided group on the street covering the left and right, however Oli was accused of defecting at some point. 157m of elevation just about sums up the effort put in this evening by everyone, dodging snappy letter boxes and driving rain weaving our way up and down the heights of the not so aptly named BEAR FLAT..... didn't feel very flat for the 40 minutes of delivering task.
Thankfully, what goes up must come down and the run back to the leisure centre was much appreciated amongst the group, although we did enjoy some single leg squats, lunges and walking lunges during the evening.
Thanks to Jackson for this evenings fabulous pun and Mary for backmarking.
A reminder that Nicolas leaving party is Sept 28th, so let me know if your coming.
We also have our 2nd Birthday Celebrations on October https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/goodgym-bath-is-turning-two
Apologies for lack of photos but the rain was relentless!!
Friday 1st September 2017
Kerrie has done their first good deed with GoodGym.
Kerrie is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

Bath Report written by Bath runner
A change of plan to the scheduled task this evening for 16 intrepid runners in Bath but of course that would also mean the addition of a hill or two to the 6k run to DONKEY LANE community garden .
A few announcements before the off with a warm welcome to another Goodgym tourist from GG Greenwich the lovely Amy....whoop!!!
Bath Heroes this month
Mary 8 Good deeds
Alison 188.9k
Remember everyone get signed up on Strava through your Goodgym profile and all your training runs will be logged, you also get to support your fellow runners/vice Versa. Could be a tiebreaker in the making regards hitting the next BIG 50!! Joe at 48 and Mary at 47.
welcome to Caitlin (my daughter) for her first taste of Goodgym fitness and no I didn't force her.
The first part of our run out was nice and flat, that was until we arrived at Hedgemead Park when it became apparent the
only was is up baby, for you and me now
I'm not too hard on them though as they'd already enjoyed a couple of hill sprints to warm up, plus had a breather at the top of the many steps with an opportunity to
squat it like it's Hot or until they drop
Sue was eagerly awaiting the group at the end of perfect view with her tools, our task to help weed to help with the maintenance of this rather large area.
The task for 35 mins
Clearing the Pathways through the herb and veggie area,. Cut back a rather large Kale plant, although this got rather out of hand with poor Jo trying to keep Joe and Sam on task but Sam was literally engulfed in Kale...Ha!! Pretty maids in a row working on the garden paths doing a fabulous job. Steve, Rob and the two Emma's tackled the stingers on the other side of the footpath allowing the young trees some breathing space.
Amy confessed to enjoying the hills with Holly, Megan and Caitlin taking the herbs in hand. Pascale had a lovely bunch of Kale to enjoy in her breakfast smoothie, that might make up for the extra mileage she did tonight.
Time up!!
Group photo and our very own Mexican led wave by Dora to top off the evening.
Thankfully a nice downhill finish back to the leisure centre for a few stretches.
Thanks to Emma for back marking and Joe for our fabulous pun tonight.
Reminder that it's monthly **QUIZ SOCIAL on Thursday at The Boater at 7.30pm, please feel free to come along and bring a little raffle prize to show our support to Rob who will be climbing Kilimanjaro with his brother and is self funding, so the money he raises will go to the charity.
