Cape Town

York Report written by Vicky Hearson (she/her)

Today we started by celebrating some amazing milestones- Leanne doing 1200 good deeds, Amy doing 300 and Neil 50! They all wore their capes with pride!

We also congratulated David on running an amazing 50km ultra on Saturday (and still able to run tonight), and the many runners who did the Helmsley 10k. We also marveled at Rich cycling back from the lakes!

After naming and numbering off, and saying what we'd do to help the planet in honour of earth day tomorrow, we set off to the cemetery.

We were met by Clive and set to task clearing an area of brambles to make way for tree planting later in the year. After 45 mins of graft we'd made good progress and also uncovered some hidden graves.

To finish the session, the new discs of delight came out which involved doing lots of our favourite exercises. If your disc said hunt your team got to go hunting for eggs. Winners got a creme egg then we headed back to base. We promised Clive we'd be back soon to finish off so watch out for that task.

Dream the compostable dream

York Report written by Ed Woollard (He/Him)

Another load of bays successfully cleared of their compost by the crack team of Goodgymers after the 4th visit to West Bank Park in just over a couple of weeks

This time Ed took up the role of the man in the skip, helping to lift the barrage of barrows and position the compost where it needed to be

There were definitely some tired legs (and heads) out there today with David having completed an ultra over the weekend, Ed having done the Helmsley 10k and a few people spending a chunk of the previous day in the pub. But we got a load done before a few people headed on to a café for some well-earned tea and cake

Skip me bay-bay one more time

York Report written by Leanne (she/her)

6 GG Yorkies met at West Bank Park to continue clearing the contents of compost bins into a skip.

With wheelbarrows at the ready, we clad ourselves in high vis and set a goal of emptying one of the three banks of bins within the hour (leaving plenty left for Monday's community mission group!)

We made short work of the barrowing, covering about 2.5km each in distance back and forth across the park with wheelbarrows full of grass (to warm up) and then heavier compost.

Job done, some of us headed to a cafe to celebrate Amy's 300th good deed 🥳
