An after work pick seems to attract the masses rather than a before work pick so 5 of us hit a local streets!!!
Amongst our haul was a double divan bed base and a toilet seat and a lot of cans thrown out of someone's window.
We picked in the dark so no clue what we stood on as we cleared litter from green spaces near the roads and in the estate.
The windy days have definitely given the gift of litter so nice to target a little area as a gang!
Thanks for turning out :)

A leafleting task on a bank holiday, who'll turn up for this?! Well, quite a few dedicated folk apparently. This week we were delivering leaflets for Roundabout, a local youth housing charity. They're having a chocfest (https://www.yorkshirechocolatefestival.com/) to raise funds in the autumn and are trying to spread the word around Sheffield. For this they needed GoodGym's collective helping hands!
We had 5 mapped routes provided to us to follow. Upon close inspection of these routes it was collectively decided that it would be best for us to split up into two teams working on just one of the circular planned routes, working in tandem. This decision was taken because a lot of the proposed routes didn't cover very many residential areas, the land being instead occupied by commercial premises. The chosen route would take all of us about an hour to complete. Perfecto!
En route we found, as usual for many Sheffield houses, that many didn't have letterboxes on their front doors, requiring people to walk down alleyways to back doors. We encountered several barking dogs, foreboding alleyways, interesting curious notices and friendly residents on our group paper-round.
Upon completing our route, we regrouped and set off back down the hill to the amphitheater for extra fitness. This was a last minute, from the top of my head, addition as I foresaw our leafleting taking up all of our time. We used the large steps to complete reps of 10 box jumps (or step-ups), 10 push-ups and 10 tricep dips, before running the short distance back through the station to the Showroom. Here we stretched off, did announcements and popped inside for refreshments or popped off.
We felt like we'd helped, in a roundabout way!

Yes, that was a Sheffield based Pulp pun..
On a beautiful Sheffield evening we were back off to meet MARVELOUS MARIA from Common Ground Community Garden to help with a bit of a spring clean. This time around we took on the below tasks:
Maria was very thankful for the help which will make the spaces a lot easier to use and make storage for other equipment to be used by the surrounding community. The beds looked ace!
On completion of our tasks we used this amazing area for some paired fitness where one person would take on an exercise whilst their partner did 2 laps of the 'Stonehenge Circle' before tagging their partner to swap over. This weeks exercises included:
Until next time, happy running :)

On a longer and hillier route than usual we were glad to once again meet up with the all time legend that is Irene Wadsworth.
Once we hit the peak of the hill on Gleadless valley top the wind was also peaking, filling our bags with wind, ready for the litter that we would fill them with. And oh was there a lot to go at, from chip forks, to wrappers, cans and even somethings that resembled brains, we picked it and bagged it!
At the end of the task a significant amount of litter had been bagged, ready for the council to take it away in the near future.
On route back we took advantage of some freshly mown grass to play some kids games where we got into groups of certain numbers and then did a different exercise each time with the reps being the number that was called. Great stuff!
Once back and stretched off we headed into the Showroom for hand washing and delicious delights!
Until next time, happy running! :)
