Todays activity at the Ealing Salvation Army was full of farm fresh veggy deliveries. Volunteers filled takeaway bags chock full of fresh root veggies and other goodies to be turned into delicious meals.
What did the veggies say when the music came on? “Lettuce turnip the beet!”. Phew, with that obligatory attempt of a pun out of the way, we turn our focus onto the clothes donations.
With the cold weather approaching, an ample array of sweaters, coats and other cozy attire was labelled and placed for pickup in the donation area. All volunteers worked together to make this a success :)

Schools started and everyone’s back to their routine. Thankfully part of our routine was making an impact in the community. Volunteers packaged loads of grocery bags for families, including distributing mammoth bags of rice! Our snack bags were jam packed full of fresh apple slices to help with the autumn feeling that’s fallen on London. Clothes were sorted and a delicious pasta and meatball dish was cooked for the hot takeaway service. More and more people joined as the night went on and this was another successful team effort by all volunteers!

Volunteers prepared takeaway bags full of nature’s bounty (Fresh fruits and veggies). They made great headway sorting and labeling an assortment of donated clothes for the homeless. In the background, the team in the kitchen made a delicious smelling Cottage Pie for the hot meal takeaway service. Everyone was productive and took advantage of the chance to help out!

Bank Holiday Monday and 4 goodgymers checked in at the Salvation Army Hall for the Ealing Soup Kitchen takeaway service. We welcomed Naomi her 1st mission: welcome 🙌🎉. Usual tasks of setting up tables and preparing snack and grocery bags by the team with a twist of tasting sweets ...quality street sweets 😋. Think we all needed some sugar and enjoyed the sweet treats Emma allowd us to have as the quality test needed to be done before putting them in the bags. Plenty of bread 🍞, flat sausages, desserts, fruit and pasta to be given to the guests. Tuna Pasta bake on the menu with the veggie option. Clothes also needed to be sorted and labelled.
